Bottle. Light amber body with white head. Aroma is ripe fruit sweetness with some belgian yeast. Taste is malty with some ripe fruits and hoppy bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter balanced by some sweetness. I like these belgian IPAs.

Bottle. Slightly hazy amber color, large foam head. Very (!) strong aromas of exotic fruits: pineapple, lychee, mango. Hint of wodka/jenever. Smokiness permeates. Taste is sour (again: !). Almost tastes like hairspray: all the sour elements of the aforementioned fruits battle to win. Subsequent sips are more agreeable and balanced (sweet/sour). Sweetness returns slowly in the aftertaste. Unusual ipa (and therefore I was anticipating its taste, because in general ipa is not for me), but too sour for me.

One of the more ’spectacular’ Vivens after the relaunch of the brand, this one launched in 2009. Off-white, creamy head and amber colour with brownish hue, cloudy. Tempting perfume in the nose, roses, apple, bittersweet honey, spiced ’jenever’, mint and lots of herbal and peppery hops. Apply onset, clear and rounded, bit honeyish, quickly overwhelmed by a very powerful, almost agressive, herbal and citrussy hoppiness, creating a long, tingling, dry, bitter finish. Great Belgian interpretation of an American style, I’m all for IPAs and this one can stand the comparison with many of its American congeners.

Not my type of beer. Don't like a caramel in my beer. Smells like garbage. Wouldn't recommend ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours in copper dark cloudy with slight off white head, and with long lacing. Aromas in fruity hops, mandarin , orange, and little sweet malts. Palate is slick, almost thick, but medium full-bodied. Carbonation is average. Taste is dry, very bitter from hops and has a sweet and salty cardboard or smoky caramel maltiness lingering in the finish. ABV 8% brings some warmth. Overall really tasty Imperial IPA.
