ALLOVATE (2281) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 3, 2012
Draught @ Sail & Anchor, Fremantle.
Hazy deep amber with a compact, creamy white head that is lasting. Aside a pleasant note of pot pourri and orange juice there is burnt tar, rubber and phenolic spice on the nose - now not so pleasant. Juicy and bursting with citrus esters on the palate to play a switch. Quite vinous and astringent on the finish and sadly plastic and almost chemical in the tail. Body is firm; the bitterness firm and carbonation low. Unenjoyable to say the least. A re-rate perhaps!!

Beautiful amber color with white creamy foam. Nose is "supranatural" grapefruit!. Soft carbonation. Bitterness is very present without being excessive. Palate is smooth. Malty taste with fruity aftertaste. A Classic IPA - technically perfect.

Wow. The smooth character is really great. Billed as an imperial IPA. I guess it is for the alcohol content and not the overwhelming hops. Smooth honey sweetness and aroma throughout. Perfect color orange/red. Nobody makes beers like the Belgium brewers.

Bottle at t’Brugs Beertje, Brugge - 01/12/12. Thanks to Yvonne for the pour. Hazed mid amber with a thin off white head that retains well. Nose is bitter hops, pine, mango. Taste follows, tropical fruits, hops, pine. light bitter grapefruit, caramel malt. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, bitter finish. A really decent drop !

Pours a deep copper color with a frothy two finger head. Aromas are sticky pine, citrus, pineapple and a touch of sweet malt. On the palate its bright and hop forward with nice balance between fruit and bitterness. Quick moving palate with a nice finish. Tasty DIPA from Belgium !

Very good ipa! great fresh fruits, great bitterness, high on carbon and the flavours are bitter and sour/sweet but in a very earthy way...

Poured a clear amber with a lasting off white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops. Moderately carbonated, medium creamy body, flavour of grass, bitter finish.

(From notes) Bottle. Aroma is very strong and fantastic, exactly what I look for in an imperial IPA: fruity and lots of hops. This aroma is what I associate with American -style imperial IPA’s. Thankfully the beer also tastes like what the aroma would have you believe. Very hoppy and full-bodied. This is the best Belgian IPA I have had (which is not many).

Muy buena! Una combinación perfecta entre el estilo belga y el americano que recoge lo mejor de ambos.
