4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The recipe from the first kegged Bruges Beer Fest version has been slightly changed . It has become stronger towards an 8 vol% strength, which should make this IPA more leaning towards the wonderful US Double IPA style.
Also, more American Simcoe hops are inserted, which gives a darker beer and more American hop characteristics.
An additional bottle refermentation will give more flavours and complexity.
It pours nicely dark golden orange, and slightly hazy.
The foam is kinda beige with a subtle green shine.
Already when nosing I notice the typical American grapefruit alike hop flavours.
Fruity, fresh, citric, grapefruit, flowers. Memories of past US visits immediatly revive.
Folks, this is a PERFECT US West-Coast double IPA clone!
Tasting only confirms this statement.
I taste citric Simcoe hops. Tomahawk also, and more US hop varieties.
Very pleasant is the balance between sweet and hop bitter. Not too sweet, but in perfect harmony.
Note that this hop monster is still about 124 IBU bitter! This is to be called extreme.
Tasting also gives a nice carbonation tingling, great body, and satisfying depth. A beer to taste with care.
8 vol% is quite strong, and it really doesn’t feel that strong when drinking.
This is because the beer is such a fruity experience all together.
Only after finishing the glass for a while, the alcohol is clearly present :)
The after taste is a complete hoppy citric sensation.
Quite equal when finishing grapefruit. It gives a pleasant fruity citric bitter long lasting lingering.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of hay, peach, grapefruits
Head is nice, pretty creamy, with very nice retention. Lots of yeasty pieces floating around, that’s rather bad.
High bitterness, low-medium sweetness.
Didn’t know what to expect, i was pleasantly surprised

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear orange to amber with a medium white head and an aroma of citrus fruits, grapefruit, peach, caramel and sweet malts. The taste is light sweet with a heavy bitterness and enough complexity. The finish is mediumlasting and bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home from notes. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale malts, biscuity malt, citrus, herbal and resiny hops, decent European imperial Ipa.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 330 ml. Pours deep reddish amber, very cloudy, with around a finger of off-white head. Moderate amound of visible carb. Aroma of orange, lemon, spices, vegetation and earth in the backdrop. Bit of a sweet and syrupy character with some noticeable booze. Taste is honey and bready malts, nuts, more spice, some pepper around the sides, ending on more vegetation and earth with a moderately strong yet long lasting bitter finish. All flavours fairly balanced with nothing overbearing. Feels great on the palate - full, heavy body, creamy texture, moderate carb helping the pepper and spice leave a lasting tingle on the tongue. One for those who like their IPAs a little sweeter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Yard House-Springfield . Ending an evening of VA tastings with a Belgian. Saved for last. Murky medium amber pour, with soft off white head. Sweetish nose recalls honey and jelly. Taste is oft and welcoming, sweet, minor bitterness, honey, preserves. Silky smooth and creamy. Just what the doctor ordered. Fare thee well, Virginia.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours dark gold/amber with a very high, mixed-grained, cream-colored, lacy blown-insulation head. Nose is lime, lavender, rosemary, sage, toffee peanuts, and roast grain, but it’s hard picking up much through that head. Bitter on the front of the tongue, but also with a burnt-sugar or chicory overtone; the dark color of the beer’s explained in one mouthful. Tastes like hop-laced burnt sugar peanuts. Finish is long and bittersweet. I suppose if you’re into that sort of thing you’d be really happy, but it’s kind of jarring for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Flesje thuis gedronken. Bruin-rood helder bier. Ondanks dat dit flesje al oud is (tHTC 25jun2014) heeft het bier een stevige, beige schuimkraag. Aroma is fruitig. Smaak is echter aangenaam bitter. Smaak blijft lang hangen.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
