The recipe from the first kegged Bruges Beer Fest version has been slightly changed . It has become stronger towards an 8 vol% strength, which should make this IPA more leaning towards the wonderful US Double IPA style. Also, more American Simcoe hops are inserted, which gives a darker beer and more American hop characteristics. An additional bottle refermentation will give more flavours and complexity. It pours nicely dark golden orange, and slightly hazy. The foam is kinda beige with a subtle green shine. Already when nosing I notice the typical American grapefruit alike hop flavours. Fruity, fresh, citric, grapefruit, flowers. Memories of past US visits immediatly revive. Folks, this is a PERFECT US West-Coast double IPA clone! Tasting only confirms this statement. I taste citric Simcoe hops. Tomahawk also, and more US hop varieties. Very pleasant is the balance between sweet and hop bitter. Not too sweet, but in perfect harmony. Note that this hop monster is still about 124 IBU bitter! This is to be called extreme. Tasting also gives a nice carbonation tingling, great body, and satisfying depth. A beer to taste with care. 8 vol% is quite strong, and it really doesn’t feel that strong when drinking. This is because the beer is such a fruity experience all together. Only after finishing the glass for a while, the alcohol is clearly present :) The after taste is a complete hoppy citric sensation. Quite equal when finishing grapefruit. It gives a pleasant fruity citric bitter long lasting lingering.

Bottle bought in Ostend. Amber-brown with a thin head and resinous, lightly dusty and honeyed nose. Dry-sweet and peppery, with hints of tropical fruit and caramel toffee, lots of hops and a citrus bitterness. Good stuff.

Pours a dark Amber with a thick offwhite head. Aroma of malt with mild hop bitterness. Taste is malty, funk, sweet caramel, slight pine. Very interesting.

Bottle, Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Always keen to try a Belgian take on on my favourite style. Amber pour with a thinnish off white head. Fragrant hop and citrus present in the aroma. Flavour had more decent hoppage alongside caramel, yeast, and grapefruit. Smooth slightly creamy mouthfeel. Bitter sweet finish. Solid take on a DIPA but not out of the top drawer.

Tap@Delirium Cafe Beer Cave. Kraftigt grumlad, mörkt bärnstensfärgad vätska med två fingrar högt skum. Mastiga dofter av grape, ananas och tall. Gräddig munkänsla. Lite smörig och karamellig inledning som ersätts av lots and lots av beska. Oj, oj, vilken hit! Släng er i väggen amerikanare, denna är riktigt bra.

From notes. Bad notes. No recollection of where I had this. St. Veronus, probably. Bottle. Lovely pour. Hops have worn off a little. Honey from the malt, grapefruit from the hops. Belgian yeast. Medium body and carbonation.

Light brown-amber opalescent with a medium yet lasting rocky dark white head, good lacings. Wet grass, dusty, barnyard, dried citrus fruit peel, bit spruce. Low carbonation, light texture, medium body. A light grainy flavour opening for a fist full of hops! A bitter hop punch yet the malt keeps it in check but cannot really shine. Bitter dry finish.

Very murky orange beer with a medium foamy head. Aroma is resinous hops, a bit gluey, pines, some orange. Taste is dry hops, resinous, Belgian yeast notes, a bit sour. Fullish mouthfeel, bitter finish. Easily drinkable and quite a pleasant surprise. Another for me! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber with a nice head. Very hoppy nose. Hops dominate the taste, very bitter with citrus peel (grapefruit). Some floral notes. Full body, creamy, long dry bitter finish. Great IPA

11.2 oz. bottle purchased at Bottles, Providence, RI. Deep hazy Amber color with lasting bubbly head. Aroma gives me a deep floral character with some mild yeast hints. Flavor starts sweet with fruit and mild yeast. The deep hop profile is grapefruit and floral with a mild resin hint. The bitterness get progressively more bitter as I sip. Extremely dry texture with the pine showing.

Overall I enjoyed sipping on this. Enough malt balance to keep it centered yet it has the long lasting bitterness a Hophead is seeking. Very unexpected coming out of Belgium with the layer of hops.

Bottle. Pours a dark, cloudy grapefruit color with a very frothy head. Thick, hoppy aroma with a nice citrusy finish. Smooth taste. Lots of hops. Alcohol is hidden. But this is a very, very impressive Imperial IPA.
