This is my first tasting of a Viven creation; poured from a bottle into a De Struise glass.
The aroma sends a mixed message; citrus, interrupted by undertones of spruce.
These two themes are carried into the the taste, where the spice of pine/spruce flavoring dominates. The flavor is more well-balanced here than the aroma.
This beer has a very light body, and is an amber-orange color. Pours with a frothy white head that dissipates within minutes. When the yeast is mixed into the glass, there is a leathery flavor present
Overall, I find it refreshing; a nice beer for the summertime.

On tap at St Veronus. Opaque orange/brown bodybwith thick bubbly off white head, quickly disapating leaving spotty lacing. Strong pine notes, grapefruit, grass, orange zest. Elevated alcohol and it presents a subtle warmth on the finish, very well integrated.

Una delle piu’ belle sorprese del 2009.Assaggiata in anteprima al 3 BruggeBeerFestival.Gusto molto luppolato e schiuma persistente.La rifermentazione in bottiglia gli conferisce un ottimo aroma e complessità.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Dark amber pour with a white head. Fruity aromas of peaches, pineapples, tropical fruit, pears with a hint of heather and herbs. Crikey! That’s a sharp old flavour! Hop heavy fruity taste. Sharp hoppy tingle on the tongue. Finishes with more hops than Danny and the Juniors with a tad of bitterness. Very good iterpretation of an American IPA.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home. Clear deep orange pour, huge off-white head leaving loads of lacing. Aroma is very hoppy with loads of floral notes, grass, pine and resin. Intense and wonderful. Flavor is slightly sweet at first, then more hoppy bitterness all the way to the finish which has some of the more grassy elements. A tiny bit harsh, but mostly an awesome IIPA. Creamy texture, lively carbonation. Lingering bitterness.

Rich and hoppy on the nose. Straight forward and uncomplicated taste. Again, rich hoppy with a light zestiness that has throw backs to the Viven Blond. Another beer i would recommend as an entry level beer. Deceptive ABV.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, copper gold with a dense, tight, creamy off-white head. Looks perfect. Holds a very nice aroma, rife with orange citrus, and more subtle notes of pine and grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor, some light, toasted malts, just the faintest touch of caramel, dry pine and leaves, grapefruit, orange, dried mango. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. Lightly warming to finish with a wonderful dryness, pine, grass, light wood, grapefruit, orange, and mild berries. A beautifully understated DIPA. Has all the complexity of an ’in your face’ DIPA without the superfluous intensity. Truly, a very, very solid beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2013 On draught @Brugge BF, 02/02/2013. - Great looking, deep yellow DIPA with fluffy white head and balanced floral/fruity aroma. Outstanding mouthfeel, medium, none of its 8% ABV apparent and full of the taste of its typical US-hop profile, back up by a pleasant, round malt backbone. High drinkability, not a show-off, but an impressive brew that pairs US-style with Belgian balance. //Re-rate bottle 16/03/2013: slightly more "Belgian" qualities pushing through then fierce aroma hop bitters: yeast eyes, some caramel sweetness, cara malts. Somewhat less harmonic than the draught.-1
