11.2 ounce bottle, labeled as Viven Smoked Porter. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch frothy tan head that stays around a while. Thereís a good amount of lacing, too. The aroma is very nice, it smells like smoked meats/malt, chocolate, and some burnt/charred malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but itís not quite as smoky. It tastes like smoked malts/meat, bittersweet and milk chocolate, burnt/charred malt, and some coffee. Thereís also a smoky and burnt/ashy bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís smooth and slick with a good amount of carbonation. I think itís a good brew, Iíll have to try some of the other Viven brews now! $3.99 a bottle.

Pours unclear dark coffee in color with a big creamy sandy head. The aroma brings smoked malts and cooling undertones. The smoke is smooth, pure, not particularly bacon or barbecue. The flavor brings smooth smoked flavors as well to dominate on the palate.

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. This is from the Rare Beer Club and is called "Viven Smoked Porter". Black bodied with a thick, frothy brown head. Aroma is smoked malts, smoldering wood, burnt earth, smoked meat, peat notes and dark chocolate. Taste is caramel, smoked malt, coffee notes, smoked meat, burnt wood, and dark chocolate. Body is medium with a strong, prickly carbonation. Ends with more smoked malt, burnt wood, caramel, processed meat notes, dark chocolate, ash and soft earthiness. Wondering if this is the same beer because itís clearly a Smoked Beer and not simply a standard Porter.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex brew.

Bottle, brown suede color, nice porter, wish it had some more smoke as advertised but silky smooth chocolate nevertheless has a bit of metallic sour on the finish

Bottle. Very dark brown pour, almost black, with a rocky tan head that lasts a while. Aroma is quite roasty with lots of dark fruit and notes of smoke, vanilla, tar and liquorice. Flavour is even more smokey than the aroma and has less fruit, although there is a hint of dates coming through, and also has hints of dark chocolate, coffee and oak. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel with rather lively carbonation and a roasty finish that lingers a bit. A nice, well-rounded porter that seems more like an imperial with a higher abv but is still pretty easy to drink.

Draft at Churchkey. Dark brown pour with a small beige head. Nose and flavor are marked by notes of beechwood smoke and roasted malt, similar to Schlenkerla Fastenbier but without that distinctive smoke that they carry. A great balance of bitter chocolate and caramel with the touches of bacon and campfire. Medium bodied, drinkable for a 7% porter. Good stuff.

Great smokiness and smooth. Initially has smoked Gouda flavour. Opens up nicely into earthy notes. Very well balanced.
