Bottle. It pours a dark brown body, unclear, and topped by a creamy, minimal sized light beige head. Rather smoked aroma, ham and some old bonfire. Some cocoa and forest. Creamy, soft mouthfeel and semi-dry. Some alcohol warmth too. Ham, bonfire hints and cocoa in the flavor, nice bitterness too. Lasting roasted and bitter finish. Some yeasty hints. Certainly not a beer I’d expect from Belgium, but it’s pleasant indeed. 130516

Accompagne très bien les crunchips au sel fin. Goût fumé léger et qui accroche au palais.

330ml bottle from Ashton McCobb. Pours dark brown, thin beige head. Aromas are smoky, Belgian esters, liquorice. Taste is light sweet, more liquorice and smokey notes. Quite thin.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - opaque black and glossy. Nice fawn head. Nose - milk chocolate, light funky note, dry spice or liquorice. Taste - more liquorice melded into the chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a very dry finish. Overall - supposed to be a porter but it has elements of dry stout style.

Bottle at WVRST, but don’t remember the date. Dark chocolate and touch of coffee in flavours. Strong aroma of dark chocolate. Very dark opaque black with off-white head. Lovely.

liquorice-ish, great aroma and a genuine porter, close to an imperial stout but black albert has set my standards too high.

Jet black color with brown head. Aroma is smoky, like campfire, also roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied. Taste is smoky as well, with woody, coffee, chocolate notes and also herbal hops. Aftertaste is sweet, smoked and bitter with liquorice traces. Very interesting beer.

Classic porter aroma. Scence of chocolate or tobacco. The same taste. Good body but the foam does not remain. Good beer and good product of the porter school.
