Bottle. It pours a dark brown body, unclear, and topped by a creamy, minimal sized light beige head. Rather smoked aroma, ham and some old bonfire. Some cocoa and forest. Creamy, soft mouthfeel and semi-dry. Some alcohol warmth too. Ham, bonfire hints and cocoa in the flavor, nice bitterness too. Lasting roasted and bitter finish. Some yeasty hints. Certainly not a beer I’d expect from Belgium, but it’s pleasant indeed. 130516

Color is dark brown, almost black with a beige head. Aroma of smoked sausage, which really annoyed me. Taste of coffee and roasted/smoked malts. Little low on flavor actually. Didn’t like it very much, but this doesn’t mean that it was poorly made. Just not my kind of beer.

Rigorous roasty notes in this light porter. An very reasonable application of the style. An every day good drinking porter. Rated by BrewTom

McWorta (830) - LUXEMBOURG - APR 4, 2015
Black-dark-brown colour with a tan medium sized head with good lacings. Aromas of smoked charcoaled roasted malts, long dried hay, with traces of coffee and intense-bitter chocolate aroma offering a light liquorice note on the retronasal side. Softly carbonated with a mellow slickness and a medium-full body. Light earthy sweetness with a well pronounced coffee roast malt bitterness develops with notes of umami reminiscent of bacon due to the smoked malt. Lasting pleasant and balanced finish.

Pours pitch black with a moderate brown head. Roasted malt, burnt, light yeast aroma. Flavor is moderate bitter with strong notes of roasted malt, burnt, smoke. Dry roasted finish. Sticky ashtray aftertaste.

Pours a dark black beer with one finger tanned head. Aroma has some coffee and a roastiness to it. Taste is the same. Bitter and dry finish.

Bottle from Merchants, Rugby. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, slight smoke note. Taste is creamy, coffee, smoky wood. Decent stuff. This belies the 7% ABV.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/26/2016. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, molasses, toast, dark bread, light char, light dark fruit, light pepper, and roast/smoke/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/smoked malt and light-moderate yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, molasses, toast, dark bread, light dark fruit, light pepper, light char, and roast/smoke/yeast earthiness. Light roast bitterness/yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, molasses, toast, dark bread, light char, light dark fruit/pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roast/smoked malt and light-moderate yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian influenced smoked porter style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/smoked malt and light-moderate yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Skinnyviking (7501) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 13, 2015
Draught at Braukunst Live 2015 Munich. Medium high creamy lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Roasted malt coffee caramel aroma and flavor with just a hint of smoke. Little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a short fnish.

Schwarz. Kakao, Schinken, rauchige Röstmalze in der Nase. Malzig, süß, aber geschmacklich etwas schwach, leicht dünn.
