Charbon is charbon, isn’t it ?

Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown with a moderate head. Wow. This is smokey. The smoke plays beautifully off the porter style with some great roasted and smokey notes in the nose with the slightly heavy smokiness in the taste. Great drink. Truly.

Bottle 330ml from King&Godfree. Great cigar-porter. Aromas of smoke, roasted caramel, coffee, milk chocolate, and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, long lasting. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Black, with a frothy head.

pure black in your glass headed with a creamy consistent foam, light brown colored. thick layer till the end, slow lacing on sides, if diss¡pated just gentle twist your half-pint glass... here it comes! Your nose will be fulfilled with toast coffees, chocolate & dry fruits aromas while your mouth will feel a dry bitternes well balanced with the dry fruited taste. Look for a licorice flavour too. Even being a heavy one you´ll receive a refreshing finish. a 0,33 ml bottle forces you to get more than one. if porter style it´s not your favourite, Viven´ll gotcha...changing up your mind.it really does

UPDATED: APR 16, 2014 Pours pitch black with a medium tan head. Smells mildly smokey with hints of chocolate. Taste is smokey with hints of roast and sweet malt. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Viven Smoked Porter finishes with a mild smokiness.

This is a seriously good beer. This is by far the best porter i have ever had. It is mellow yet has really deep and complex flavours.

Now this is impressive. Full on porter-esque, the brewing equivalent of the wall of sound - all taste sensations covered. Intense, heavily caramelled, roasted bitterness alongside some hop bitterness. Strong enough to be serious and light enough to avoid bullying the palate into submission.

A very interesting porter, very refinated and aromatic, even the coffee flavours are more sweet than others porters, and have hints of smoke as the german rauchbiers. And the best is that is way drinkable than most of porters.

Viven Porter, a SMOKED Porter at 7.0 vol%. This is the first commercially available smoked porter made inside Belgium! A revelation! Notice the care that’s been taken for the image. Black lettered labels and capped with a black crown cork. This beer pours completely black ! The foam is creamy and brown colored. Folks, that’s already a sign of quality ! Now, this is stunning folks ! I already had this beer at the Bruges Beer Fest, and was already surprised by it. This time, some bottle conditioning has even done some more complexity. Nosing immediatly gives roasty and smokey accents, and this in perfect harmony with - again - fruity yeasty flavours. Tasting gives a very thick beer. Wow, what a dense liquid. I taste sweetness, smokey malt flavours, tobacco, fruits (plums-raisins-dried fruit), roasty malts, coffee. Again, an amazing brew this is from Dirk Naudts.
