Bottle, 01/02/2014. Pours dark brown, lighter highlights near the edge, hazy white head, bubbly ring of lacing forms around the edge of the glass. Aroma is dried fruit, honeyed caramel, light grape and port notes, vanilla, dark rum soaked bread, drier barrel elements. Taste is caramel and fruity port, dark toffee, yeast and honey, spicy bitterness, finishing with light chocolate and brown sugar. Smooth, medium heavy body. Pretty nice.

Trappist1 (477) - Diest, BELGIUM - DEC 9, 2013
Dark brown, almost black color. brown thin head, quickly disappearing. Nose: dried fruits, liquer, porto, vanilla, nuts, black pepper. Taste is wood, dry, bitter, alcohol, liqueur, gives a warm sweet glance. Finish is round, long lasting. Alcohol is very well balanced, smooth. This is a very nice beer !! Well made, the 12% goes in easily, strong dark brew that is not too alcoholic, nor too sweet. Even dry and bitter what makes is very enjoyable.

Clear dark brown colour, no real head. Aroma of brown sugar, malts, light wood, light chocolate. Sweet flavour, brown sugar, roasted malts, lots of caramel. Sweet finish, brown sugar, only the slightest hint of porto wine.

33 cl. bottle procured (@ De Hopduvel in Gent) together with & split bottle and costs with Kraddel. Consumed @ train. This is way better than the 8° Port BA, not stellar but here at least you get barrel, the taste is way richer & way more interesting. Nose is big on BE yeast, lots of Port, thick caramel, BE fruits, light soy sauce. Taste is sweet caramel, vanilla, warming / boozy, big on alcoholic port, light barrel, berries, touch soy sauce & chocolate, lots of brown sugar, touch chocolate. Very warming & slick. Overly boozy & simple typical BE brew. At least here you get something interesting & you get plenty of barrel even if this is bordering on overly boozy.
