Dutch Ratebeer gathering. Cloudy dark brown coloured. Malts are dominant, and the ageing effect (BB febr. 2002; over 4 or 5 years old) is pretty obvious. Fresh it is very smooth, sweet, raisins. Nice brew!

Very cloudy brown color, medium brown head, very thick flock of yeast at the bottom. Aroma of heavy black malt, some chocolat malt, hop and coffee. Taste starts heavy, but once you get used to the heavy black malt, it softens up and the chocolate comes in, where it finishes more bitter. Palate is full and thick.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Fruity, tart berries aroma. Tart sourish flavours, good balancing caramel, though very dry. Outstanding.

On tap @ in de Wildeman. Cloudy dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, a little sour, roasted malts. Flavour is soft and sweet, a bit sour, brown sugar, roasted malts, fruits, some spices. I really enjoyed this one.

Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Reddish murky brown colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is fudge, caramel malts, some fruits, yeast and also mildly roasted notes. Also quite strong licorice as it warms up. Flavour is caramel malts, fudge, mild alcohol and some chocolate as well as fruity hops. Also mild black coffee and yeast comes through.l

Butterscotch and chocolat aroma. Dark brown color, light brown head, fair lace. Light sweet, chocolat and lots of butterscotch, little roast, nice soft palate. Had this one too young but still very nice. The other bottle I will keep for a year or so and I'm sure it will turn out to be a great beer.

Yeasty, sweet, bit spicy and malty aroma. Strange, very cloudy, brown coloured with a lasting off-white head. Looks good. First sips were not so good, but with the warming of the glass it becomes better. Taste is yeasty, quite bitter, chocolate and coffe malts present. More coffee malt in the end. This brew is like a combination of a dubbel and a stout. Decent.
