3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to Matt for hauling the bottle back from Amsterdam! Pours a super-cloudy brown -- downright murky -- and smells exactly like apple pie. Apples, a good dose of brown sugar, allspice and cloves. Flavor follows suit, adding booze and some yeastiness. This drinks like a port -- something you’d have in a cordial glass after a good dinner. I’m a fan. Couldn’t have a whole lot, but I really enjoyed it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2007 vintage bottle shared from Deanso. Pours a murky brown with lots of sediment. Aroma is just like an aged Stille Nacht, major sweet caramel with a fruity aspect. Flavour is heavy sweet with some alcohol burn in the finish. Full bodied with soft (but more than expected given the age) carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Labeled as 10.5% BBE 2008 on the front label, but 10.3% and BBE 2013 on the back label.
Hazy, almost opaque orange with a huge porous tan head, the foam keeps pouring out of the bottle for 5-10 minutes. There are white yeast particles in the beer, and also disgusting grey chunks of sludge towards the end of the bottle.
Aroma: yeasty, (over-) ripe fruit, plums, malty.
Taste: very sweet and malty, fruity, alcohol, candy.
Full-bodied and moussy.
Pretty good taste, but between what poured out over the table, and having to throw a lot of it to avoid the sludge, not much was left to drink.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
fairly nice beer, poors a nice head, tastes a bit sweet. It has a bitter, burned taste to it which makes one glass a bit much to drink.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
21st March 2011
Bottle from Bier Koning. Deep brown cloudy beer. Small tan head. Smooth softish palate. Sweet rich malt that has a little dark malt thing going on as well. Trace of marmite. Not much else going on but what there is is good! Whisper of fruit in the finish to complement the nice sweet malt.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 31 July 2010) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit, roasted malt, raisins, dried figs and hints of smoke. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, caramel, raisins, prunes and dark bread. Slightly bittersweet finish. Full body, rather sweet with some alcohol shining through. Very nice, but on the heavy side.
