2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Apparently this has Westvleteren yeast, which was an attractive draw card. Unfortunately, this was way too sweet, sugary and showed too much alcohol. Quite yeasty too, much more so than Westy, much more raw and sweet. Candy sugar/brown sugar. some caramel and citrus.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draught at the Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Very hazy yellow-brown, very foamy. Sweet and sour aroma with freshness from the lactic acid. Malty-syrupy, spicy and sharply alcoholic flavor with some contaminated plastic vibes.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottled) Hazy dark nutty brown color with an enormous head, that keeps growing after pouring. Intensely grainy, jello-like aroma with anise hints; vinous and brandy-like, even slightly oaky. Some sharp alcohol present. Grainy-sugary-syrupy flavor with dried fruit, smooth, warming alcohol, some salty licorice. Medium to full-bodied, low- but foamy-carbonated, warming palate. Quite similar to St.Bernardus Abt - maybe slightly sweeter. A very nice dessert brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small, supposedly aged bottle bought from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam, but best before the end of 2008. Dirty brown colour with quite a bit of sediment and a cloying head. Fruity aroma promising oranges, but also some chocolate. Orange and chocolate flavours combined with spicy yeastiness. Rummy. Full-bodied. Rather alcoholic and somewhat vinous.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home. Three years old, bought at BeerKoning. Very hazy colour with lots of foam. Really citrusy scent and spicy flavor that doesnít entirely mask its 10.5% alcohol content. Nice, although a bit syrupy for my liking. Strong finish that reminds me of sipping brandy. Burns the taste buds.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Pours an opaque, wooden brown body with a fizzy, full off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of a heaping bowl of sugar, pureed fruits, and yeast with a hint of leather.
Taste: Malts and pervasive prune fruitiness go down with a scoop each of white table sugar and light brown sugar. Strong yeastiness throughout. Dash (or three) of cognac. Touch of acidity as near the drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Very well carbonated. Decidedly warming.
Drinkability: Can be a bit coarse with itís rough sweetness and boorish booziness, but I still managed to find some pleasure in drinking it.
