Quite strong beer.
The fruit taste is to much pronounced.
For my taste it is to sweet because a ’cherry’ beer should be refreshing, ’specially’ in warm seasons.

Bottle @ home. Hazy red color, full sized pinkish head that lasts for quite a while. Smell lemonade, sweetness, red fruits, cassis, cherries. Taste cherries, sweetness, sugar. Medium body and carbonation. Not bad I think, but I don’t like these sort of beers at all. Gave it to the girlfriend.

33cl bottle at Vooruit Terrace.
APPEARANCE: clear red beer, nice stable reddish head.
NOSE: sweet, cherries, chemical, "poepkes".
TASTE: "poepkes" again, very sweet, little chemical.
Nothing special and not that good... Especially for 8,3%?

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from ALBO. BBF 02/2015. Ugly label. Dark red raspberry, murky appearance, instantly gone head. Smell is very cheap sweet cherry jam, white sugar, cherry additives, additives, syrup, stainless steel. Taste is very, very intense cherry & raspberry additives, sticky syrup, huge artificial sweeteners, light bitter & sour flavours from artificial additives, brutal, lots of soap, more soap, dear lord,… Fizzy, bit light. Sweetened crap & bad like the other Volga beer. “Volga is the Belgian beer of the future.”. Certainly possible but I really hope that, this is not the case.

8/VII/13 - 33cl bottle @ new terrace of the Vooruit (Gent) - BB: n/a (didn’t get to see the bottle) (2013-616)
Pretty cloudy dark red purple beer, pink to orange creamy head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit metallic maybe because of the cherries?, sweet red fruits, overripe fruits even. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, sweet cherries, but also surprisingly pretty bitter, slightly acidic, red fruit candy, cranberries. Aftertaste: fruity, bit sweet, not overly sweetened though, a bitter touch, sour as well. Not too bad, because of the bitterness I guess, but it’s still another fruit syrup flavoured beer. And oh yeah, way too much alcohol for such a drink.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Tasted 21.06.13, Mortsel, Belgium. Admittedly, I have tasted worse fruit beer than this cherry flavored brew, yet this is another one we didn’t need. Red, as the name would suggest, with pinkish foam of good texture. The one dimensional nose of sweet fruit candy betrays this has nothing to do with traditional Kriek and indeed the list of ingredients lists cherry juice. Uninspiring, quite synthetic taste, too sweet but, then again, a number of beers manage to do worse. A hint of bitterness tries to be "hip" but cannot save the day. Did Huyghe really brew this? Somewhere else, St. Feuillien was mentioned. Both can do infinitely better (re. Huyhe’s sublime Delirium series), presumably what the trendy customer wanted, then?
