Could be just the fact that you’re in paradise but beer was actually a great surprise. Golden sparkling pour. Very clean and fresh tasting brew. Slightly sweet but delicious, I could drink these all day (actually I did). Perfect beach beer.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle at Craig’s. It pours clear golden with decent white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, orange muffin and straw? The taste is crisp, grassy, dough, touch of paper and cardboard with a dry finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Smells ok, tastes so-so.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Fiji island lager hey, got to put that one in the basket!
Produces up a deep amber with a loose, diminishing foam that manages just an autograph of lace. Nose is soft, almost absent, but what I do pick up is fresh, damp kelp, almond meal and steaming, glutinous rice. A little too much DMS and diacetyl plague this one for taste. Buttery and vegetal with a slickness and late drabby hop note. Umami here too; the seaweed is the dominant flavour. Rubbery, plasticine phenols come through as it warms. This is not in good form at all. A fresh batch on a vacation visit is warranted here. Not easy to finish! (33cL, BB 20/12/14, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle from Yamaichi. Thin nose, chemical stink, grain. Medium straw color. Harsh thin malt initial, light white granular sugar, sour fruit juice, some citrus. Thin, somewhat unpleasant body. Really seems like it has some added spirits....

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear golden. This has an appeal if only because it is the sweetest of the Fijian beers that I drank. Not exactly clean, but fresh enough and with more texture (less carbonation attack) than other lagers. Decent. Bottle.

>> Thanks bro for the Fiji tick. Clear orange gold pour with spotty lacing. Nose is old apple sauce, bathtub, sugary macro. Taste is mealy apple, soap, artificial peach. Palate is sugary, some bathtub ickiness. Not super great. But when in Fiji, beggars can’t be choosers.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle @ GT’s Cat Cabana. Clear golden pour with a short white head. Grainy sweetness on the nose. Apple, bread, and white grape juice. Flavor is, as expected, just kind of flabby and sweet. Tons of corn syrup, white grape, and apple juice. Light bread and grain, water, and low carbonation. Meh.
