Woodshed 3.0! Big thanks to dak for saving this whole series and sharing with us. Awesome!! Bottle #312 pours with a murky mahogany looking body that supports a minimal head. The aroma offers up loads of residual sugars, boozy whiskey, coconut and a slight oak note. Iím not sure Iím getting much in the way of the base beer but just the boozy barrel treatment. The taste delivers some beer notes in the form of dark roasted malts, chocolate and then big rough whiskey booze that slips you a bit of warming heat into the after taste.

Dark brown pour, wispy tan head. Really boozy. Kind of a hot mess. Overly barreled? Too much bourbon and not enough balance.

Bottle shared @ Woodshed 3.0...in fact, the entire line-up was shared courtesy of Dak! Damn! Unfortunately, this one just didnít fit the bill (donít worry, others were incredible!) Lots of bourbon...and I mean, a lot! Itís overwhelming. A little oak, a bit of chocolate, a dollop of vanilla, and a pinch of caramel...but mostly hot alcohol. Thin as well.

Pour is close to jet black, dark tan head, darker head and liquid than the lairds. Nose has a fair bit of wood, gets a little magic marker with the booze and sweetness. Sweeter than the lairds, less bright malt quality. Body is full and last longer than the lairds, doesnít thin out as much. Taste is heavily roasted, acrid, bitter. Some wood and faint whiskey, not much malt other than roast and sweetness in back.

This one poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was big huge whiskey and milk chocolate, not much else really. Flavor was prett ymuch all bourbon and chcooalte, like drinking bourbon with chocolate syrup poured in with a little lactic note on the end. Wasn;t a huge fan of this version, but I dont like buffalo trace much either.

Bottle # 847. Dark brown pour with fleeting light brown head. Fantastic chocolate nose. Delicious with loads of chocolate, carmel, bourbon, and oak notes. Sweet, but not overly so. Outstanding mouthfeel with a good body. Would never low this is 15%. BravoÖ..

Sampled at esbls. A cool black pour. So much whiskey in the nose. That is also tasted and is big. Huge malts. Flavors are big. So much warming. Dark fruit underneath. Iímnot really a fanbut this is quite a beer.

From the September 2013 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled form a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a small dark tan head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was plastic, rubber, chocolate and cookie dough. The flavor was plastic, rubber, coconut, black licorice, chocolate, cookie dough and had an odd off boozy presence. Long boozy finish with coconut, black licorice and cookie dough. Thick, creamy and smooth body. Some nice elements but disappointing overall.

This beverage is dark with a reddish hue if looked at closely. The head dissipates quickly and leaves a ring in my glass. In the aroma I notice sweet carmel malts, a mildly roasted nose, intense sweet bourbon, chocolate malts, and oak. As for taste there is sweet booze, potent carmel malts, heavily roasted tones, strong oak flavor, dark chocolate malts, medium lvl of bitterness from the hops, and a dry finish. Overall there is too many strong notes that do not blend nicely together. The roasted malts are a bit much, the chocolate malts surface more than I liked, the bourbon had strong character, the oak flavor was defined a lot, and the bitterness from the hops just appeared to make my tongue question why is there another intense player appearing? Overall this was enjoyed but not impressive.

Utterly disappointing. Deep black body, thin tan head, minimal lacing. Assertive acetaldehyde presence that becomes increasingly distracting with each step... drowning out the bourbon, chocolate, and roast notes. Medium to full bodied, slightly boozy, acetaldehyde destroys the palate. Drain pour.
