Tap at barrel release 2 pours a nice thick Black and Tan head, aroma is bourbon, taste is a nice not overpowering bourbon with a nice thick mouth, lots of roast and the bourbon blends well with this beer, delicious

Waxed bottle. Poured a black color with a tan head. Bourbon, wood, chocolate, vanilla, some earthiness, caramel, and roasty. Some alcohol - to be expected at over 12%, but goes down nice and easy. I want some more of this one.

Growler shared by Dave. Man this was good. Aroma was wonderful. Fudge, bourbon, vanilla bean, chocolate, and toffee were all present. Pours black but not thick with a nice medium tan head. Taste was amazing with toffee, roast coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Super roasty mixed with vanilla cappuccino. Mouthfeel was tragically thin which is a shame. Made it easy to down this sucker though. Fantastic flavors. Perfect balance of roasty and sweet.

Pours tar black with an aroma of vanilla, roasted malt, and bourbon. Flavor of roasted malt, vanilla, dark fruit, and subtle but very present bourbon. One of the better beers Iíve had in a long time.

Pitch black and opaque without even the slightest trace of lighter color and a one finger dark mocha head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Really impressive retention for style and ABV, taking a while to settle. Large streaks of soapy lacing are left clinging to the glass. Looks great. Intense bourbon barrel aroma nicely integrated into the notes of the base beer. Very complex barrel character with spicy bourbon and a decent amount of charred oak without smelling burnt. Strong hints of toasted coconut along with silky vanilla bean and marshmallow. The barrel characteristics are very inviting without overpowering the other elements. Underneath the barrel, thereís a nice balance of robust roast and sweeter dark malt notes. Hints of gourmet coffee bean, burnt toast, oatmeal and bitter dark chocolate countered by fudgey dessert-like sweetness. Molasses, toffee, caramel, bakers chocolate and caramel. Smells very good. Viscous full body with an excellent barrel character thatís perfectly integrated into the flavors of the base beer. Amazing bourbon flavor that doesnít hinder/interfere with the roasted and sweet malt notes of give off any heat. Deceptively drinkable and had to believe its 12.5%. In addition, the spirit actually tastes like Pappy. Iíve had quite a pew pappy barrel ages beers, and besides GI Rare, this is the only one that tastes similar to the bourbon. Lots of fiery spice, toasted coconut, toffee, caramel and cinnamon spice. Plenty of boozy sweetness but again, incredibly smooth and easy to drink. Delicate char with vanilla bean, coconut and mallow. Underneath, there is a complex dark malt backbone with a decent amount of roast countered by luscious, silky dessert-like sweetness. Roasted coffee/espresso bean with oatmeal and bittersweet chocolate followed by silky chocolate fudge, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, licorice and bakers chocolate. Overall, this is a well balanced beer with perfect barrel flavor thatís nearly perfectly integrated into the complex malt notes. Excellent!

At ratebeer awards bottle share. Pours near black with a nice tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a marvelous dark molasses flavor with a brilliant touch of bourbon. Nicely done!

Bottle shared @ Woodshed 3.0 by way of Dak! Crazy generous dude! Dark mahogany pour with onyx, squid ink, and midnight at its core. Latte head. Surprised this didnít stand up quite as well as its sister brew. Cocoa, vanilla, coffee, oak, and bourbon. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Clingy but not coating. Really good but not world class.

Bottle #404 12/14/12 picked up at Voodoo release. Poured black with a rim of tan foam. Pleasant aroma of bourbon choc and vanilla. Taste of strong choc and roastyness, slight boozy bourbon. Good stuff.

Bottle pour. Pours a dark brown to black. Big bourbon notes on the nose with a heavy malt backbone. Chocolate and wood notes coming through as well in the taste. Viscous mouthfeel.
