Poured from bottle into reservoir tip glass. Pours thick black with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and sweetness. Taste is lots of cocoa and burned malts, a decent amount of sweetness, and a bit of bitterness from the roasted malts and hops on the back end. Very smooth. Full body, heavy beer, really good imperial stout.

Bottle shared in London during the CBC Clerkenwell 2nd birthday celebration. This version is 12.5%, incidentally. Pours dark black-brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has strong toasty bread, light pine. Medium to big sweet flavor with light earth, toasted bread, aged chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with dry chocolate and mild bitter earth. Good stuff.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a bit of this on draft at the Iron Abbey in Horsham. This is one big, strong and bold stout! The pour was jet-black with a very dark brown head that left a huge amount of lacing around the glass. The nose was very strong, with notes of hops, rubbing alcohol, cocoa and dark fruit. The flavors are very strong as well, with a semi-sweet tone but very balanced with a generous amount of hops. I tasted quite a bit of alcohol, chocolate, a hint of vanilla, dry hops and a touch of cream. Excellent impy stout.

Draft at Moriartys. Pitch black pour with a slim khaki head. Thick and silky. Great huge dark notes. Creamy bitter coffee chocolate taffy. Charcoal grill. Succulent liquorice. Deep dark red fruit. Plum pudding. Cocoa liquor. Burnt toast with blackberry jam. ABV well hidden. Creamier at the start. Broadens but thins as it warms. Finish is juicy and spicy.
