Green wax #80 1/18/13 from Voodoo release. Poured black with reddish tan. Slight boozy brandy aroma. Very smooth choco bitter medium oiliness. Brandy taste balanced and lingers for a few seconds.

Shared this one with a bunch of close friends and Matthew Allyn, Brewmaster at Voodoo.

A - Pours pitch black with a small half finger tall tan head, dissipating down to a light ring around the outer edge, leaving little to no lace down the glass.

S - Smells of warm apple brandy, vanilla, chocolate, molasses, dark fruits, oak and dark roasted malts. The apple brandy is a little strong but I still get a good bit of the base aromas coming through.

T - Starts off with some vanilla and chocolate sweetness, dark fruitiness, oak and dark roasted malt before it all gives way to the strong apple brandy presence. The booze burn, both from the 13.5% and the brandy, is strong throughout. Finish is a mix of sweetness and dark roast with a good bit of booze, clinging to the palate long after each sip.

M - Heavy body with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth, roasty feel with plenty of booze burn. It is well integrated but still kind of harsh.

O - I liked this one about as much as the BT version, with both lagging behind the PVW version. It has all of the flavors I would expect and the AB works really well, maybe a touch too well at times. Wish I had a few more of these, would love to see how the AB develops over the years.

Bottle #081. Dark brown pour with a fleeting light brown head. Delicious chocolate aromas. Loads of chocolate and apple brandy notes. Good body and mouthfeel. Nice oily sheen. Good, but my least favorite of the 3 treatments…..

Shared bottle thanks to doclock. Pours a gorgeous black with minimal head. The aroma has a big dark chocolate, light roast, Nice vanilla bean, all the apple brandy notes you can imagine. The taste is immense milk chocolate, sweet vanilla, a bit of heat, sweet chocolate. Mind blowing. Wow.

12 oz. Bottle, reviewed 06/02/2013, thanks to Mac! Pours black, little head but nice hazy foam on the surface, thin ring of lacing. Beautiful aroma, expansive coconut and vanilla, caramel chews and apple brandy. Taste is apple brandy, a bit boozy, caramel and silky chocolate. Thick, creamy body. Really delicious, top notch.

Bottle (12 oz). Shared by Pier-Luc & Julien, thanks guys! Black with a small brown head and little to no lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, sweetness, alcohol, apple brandy, wood and caramel. Taste is heavily sweet with chocolate, boozy notes, apple brandy, caramel, light fruitiness, vanilla and wood. Full bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Thick and sirupy mouthfeel. Good RIS. The barrel treatment is a tad overdone. Too sweet and boozy, but quite complex. On par with the PvW version.

Bottle. Opaque black pour with brown head. Aroma is very sweet, boozy, light brandy notes, no real woodiness. Taste is boozy, chocolatey, it’s as if everything a bit over-sweet and cloying in the beer was made worse by the apple brandy. Inferior to the pappy version IMO.

Deep black body, thin tan head, minimal lacing. Definitely shows the apple brandy, woody, chocolate, caramel, a little fudge, brown sugar and roast. Full bodied with a nice creamy carbonation throughough, well-masked booze at this ABV, #2 of the Black Magick variants.

Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Chocolate, brandy, apple aroma tones. Flavor is rich with chocolate, dark sweet malts with oak and brandy tones. No hot tones from liquor, alcohol hidden well.
