Bottle thanks to Dan! Pours pitch black, motor oil-esque....small brown bubbles form a brief head before fading a ring around the glass. Aromas are Pappy-barrel forward with brown sugar, black strap molasses, chocolate covered cherry, maple, oak, vanilla and anise. Taste mimics the nose with an amazing harmony of sweets and bitters. Loaded with chocolate, fudge, cherries, caramel, oak, vanilla and anise. No detectable alcohol at 13%. Incredible profile! Reminds me of a smoother TG Assassin for comparison. World class beer that I feel very lucky to have tried! Finishes sticky and sweet but never cloying.

Unfortunately from short notes that won't do this fantastic beer justice. Thick and syrupy delicious black oil pour. Nose is amazing! Sweet maple syrup, molasses, cereal grains seem to dominate. Some rich dark chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Thick rich body with a fantastic full palate. Complex and subtle. Taste is all the things on the nose amplified. Nose is more barleywine , while the taste is richer and sweeter. Really nice stout.

Bottle at James’ 10k tasting. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head around the edges. Big roast over warm sweet vanilla and bourbon. On the thicker side, warm roast, warming alcohol. Big vanilla and wood, sweet and chocolate filled. Cocoa, warm roast into the finish. Nice stuff.

Amazing Pappy variant, that is just right behind Rare. Smooth and sweet bourbon with a bit of spice that lingers long enough to make you want more.

500th Imperial Stout rating. Bottle thanks to Charles. Pours a motor oil with a small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong maple, bourbon, chocolate, wood. Syrup mouthfeel, chewy, bourbon, maple, oak, dark chocolate, so impressed by this one.

Bottle shared by ForgetFu at the Kulminator - thanks Bill! Pours deep deep black with a dark brown hue, no head. Intense nose of vanilla, dark roasted malts and... cinnamon, yes cinnamon (ginger bread almost). Palate is oily, no carbonation and too much alcohol warmth for me. Taste of rich dark malts and roasted coffee beans together with a tad of that sticky sweetness make up for it. Good, not great.

Woodshed 3.0! Big thanks to dak for saving this whole series and sharing with us. Awesome!! Bottle pours with a dark looking body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate, brown sugar sweetened dark roasted malts, marshmallow and smooth bourbon. The taste delivers smooth goodness in the form of lots of residual sugars, chocolate, dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee, smooth sweet bourbon booze and then more chocolate. This is smooth, richly sweet and just yummy.
