COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gran Met (Grand Master) is a Flash of delicate flavors. This Holy Grail of Belgian styles is on for the Connoisseur of Craft Beer. We at Voodoo use a special technique of adding the beet sugar to the ale as it is fermenting to soften the alcohol flavor production. This helps in the delicate nature of this ale. We also use traditional brewing for the unique profile. We hop you feel that we are doing our best to honor this wonderful heritage.

Ingredients: Belgian 2 row, Belgian light candy sugar, beet sugar, Hallertau hops, and our house tripel yeast. 29 IBUs.

Bottle. Golden pour with white head. Label looks better than beer tastes. Sweet aroma form all that sugar, some Belgian yeasts. Mediocre at best Belgian ale. Flavor is fruits, sweetness, banana, and spices.

22 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from TheEpeeist. Thanks as always, Chris. Pours a hazy gold, a bit glowing, with a carbonation bubbly soapy head, small, stays at a film overall, minimal lacing. Aromas are lightly sweet with a touch of banana runt candies, grapes, apples, with faint spice, a good sweetness builds with some candy sugar behind it and some citrus fruits and pear. Initial is light bodied, putting a bit heavy sweetness into play, with graininess coupling, light bittering, some sweeter fruits without the bitterness and liht spice. That strange sweetness, both in smell and taste must be the Beet Sugar they mention. I’m gonna be honest.. it is weird. The beer is dry, bitter towards the backend but still has a good sweetness, preaching fruits, grains, and candy sugar.. but with a different touch. Long dry and bitter finish, almost astringent for the lighter body and more complex flavors this beer should preach. Overall, an OK Belgian but doesn’t offer as much as it should at this ABV.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2012 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark golden color with a small white head that faded quickly. The aroma was strong tangy citrus and sugar. The flavor was gritty sugar, candied orange and grape, light floral hops and a touch of vague dry spices. The finish was long, dry, tangy and spicy. The mouthfeel was thick. Solid if unspectacular.

22 oz bomber from EZ. Poured one of the ugliest shades of light brown I have ever seen with a small white bubbly head. Aroma of yeast, fruits, spice and grain. Super dry body and bubbly carbonation. Flavor is actually a step down and very grainy with some spice and yeast. A fail for this beer.

Hazy yellow pour with a small white head. Aroma of grains, spice, lemon, yeast, citrus, and faint candi sugar. The flavor is the same but adds notes of butter, bread, and banana. Sticky medium body with a fair amount of carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of gillard. Pours a generally clear yellow almost golden color with one finger head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of candy sugar, caramel, honey, grass, yeast, bread, hints of banana. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of candy sugar, grass, yeast, bread, caramel, honey, some hints of apples and ripe fruit. Generally medium body with a pleasing sweet malt finish. Tasted a lot like a Belgian style trippel ale.

Courtesy of Gillard. The label is very 4-0 inspired (i.e. street legal). Pours gold with thin white head. The aroma is sweet apples, honey and thin faintly hot esters. The taste is full rich sweetness of apple wedges soaking in honey and light colored fruity esters. I then get some yeast and a sense of soap into the finish.

I liked this beer. Thanks Gillard for the share. Pours clear gold with a fizzy, dissipating head. Nose is apple, pepper, yeast, caramel, and some sugary sweetness. Flavor is banana, apple, pepper, yeast, caramel, and some candy sugar. Yeast lingers as a flavor. Finishes sweet and peppery. Medium-bodied and enjoyable.
