2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
A-pours a hazy dark amber color with a dense slightly off white head leaving a nice lacing.
S-the nose is strong with lots of burnt brown sugar up front and candied fruit behind, notes of yeast and acetone seem to blend together with dark fruits of plum and black cherries in the back.
T-the taste is much of the same, burnt sugars, candied fruit, acetone and yeast, some dark candied fruits in the back. lots of sweetness with notes of heat and alcohol in the finish.
M-creamy, syrupy feel, full bodied and chewy with a moderate carbonation.
D-extremely sweet and very sugary, a little burnt sugar and not much else. also shows the heat a little, might do well with a little age but i wouldn’t expect much from this.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours great with a nice froathy white two finger head, great foam lacing that clings to the glass nicely and a nice straw color to it. The beer has a decent smell with hints lemon, grass, and a mildly sweet sugar followed by a nice belgian yeast scent. The beer tastes decent with a nice yeast flavor up front that gives away to a nice earthy, semi sweet lemony flavor and almost a mildly bready finish. The mouthfeel is average as the beer is well carbonated but the taste is mildly bitter, somewhat boozy and not much else. Overall, a decent Belgian Ale with some nice flavors...not the best ever but very good.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bottle shared with the group (8/2011). Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet corn, Belgian yeast, candi sugar, spices, banana. Flavor has some herbal bitterness to the finish. The different flavors seemed to battle instead of working together.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
8/31/2011: Voodoo Brewery Gran Met Beligian Style Ale... Aroma: Fresh sweet corn and brown sugar. Appearance: Mostly opaque shiny golden-copper color; frothy off-white crown. Flavor: Weird... Does this beer has a fishy taste to it or is it just me?! Grainy, odd sweetness followed by a honey wheat dryness; mild bitterness in the finish; alcohol is hidden. Palate: Medium-bodied; average mouthfeel. Overall: Blah! I think this one is getting poured out...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle. Pours a deep caramel/copper color with a medium white head, some gushing. A big sweet nose of caramel and sugar. The flavor of candy sugar and beet sugar is massive, light spices, way too much sweetness. Not hot. Decent.
