22oz Bottle - Wegman’s State College. This one worried me a little when it poured a barely rose-tinted pale gold, with a whitish rim. I was worried this was going to be one of those skunky, rubbery, rotten fruit not really-fruit-beer beers. But it wasn’t. The aroma gave a little pungent cherry liquer and some cranberry juice blended with a nip of alcohol and some soft house yeast. Flavor was relatively mild and the fruits they used came together to form a quiet amalgamated generic "red" flavor, edging towards cherries, but coming out like cranberry jelly. The body was balanced and curt edge of fruit acids made the finish quite palatable. Nothing to get too excited about here as the flavors are at Volume 3, but this wasn’t bad.

Red-amber color; slightly hazy with a fine head. A tad too sweet despite some tartness. Nice mix of fruity flavors with no one fruit dominating: A berry-cherry mix. Medium-light body with fairly high carbonation. Some hops show up in the aftertaste.

Pour is a hazy red with a small white head. Aroma is a big sweet berry. Lots of raspberry and cherry. Flavor is like the aroma more cherry comes out but then a decent raspberry is there. Finish is not too tart but a bit sweeter than you would think. It’s sweet and fruity like a mixed berry preserve so the 9.5 is no where to be found making this dangerous.

About a 2oz sample from a 22oz bottle, thanks to the Lowrys for sharing! Interesting, pleasing nose -- passionfruit and cherry. Mostly hazy golden orange color, with fine particles suspended in the body. Thin white head, couple dots of lace. Really nice tart, raspberry flavor in the taste, and some more cherry, light wood. Great light tart taste, and an ultra dry finish. Some light sweet, finishes very dry though. Bigger body, smooth, lighter carbonation, lightly soft. Fantastic fruit beer. Much better than expected. Love that long raspberry aftertaste (one of my top 3 favorite fruits). Good stuff. A very enjoyable 3 sips.

22 oz bottle from 2009 pours a hazy orange color with a nice white head. Aromas f chocolate covered cherries, raspberry, dirty dishwater. Medium, got a lot better as it opened up. Not sure what style it us. Cross between a lambic and a tripel

At Voodoo. Poured hazy dirty orange color with slight white head. Slight fruity aroma. Fruit defiantly comes out in the taste which is quite smooth. A nice blend.

Bottle from Food and Friends Pours a hazy medium gold color with a decent sized off white head that persists for a while. While there was no huge pop when I opened it, it did try to self pour out of the bottle. The aroma is lightly non descript fruit with a solid caramel malty back with lots of clove and other spices. I had to edit this a little, because as this warms the raspberries and cherries really come out in the nose. The flavor is caramel prune and yeasty spice for the most part. The fruit flavor of raspberry and cherry are subtle but the tartness shines through pretty well. A hint of alcohol and a prominent orange marmalade thing round out the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Decent beer, but overall I feel that flavors are competing here rather than complimenting each other.

Poured into a tulip. 4.0 A: Murky peach amber color. Frothy off-white head with good retention for the ABV and some whisps of lacing. 4.25 S: The tripel and the fruits blend very well together. Lots of corriander with clove and pepper spice underneath. The cherry, raspberry, and passion fruit are potent enough to matter, but still let the tripel through. Wheaty hay and apple from the base beer. Fairly simple, but powerful and well balanced, especially for a fruit beer. Alcohol is well hidden. 3.75 T: Taste is like the nose. Pleasant tripel flavors meet a triad of fruitiness. Strong corriander with clove and pepper undertones. Apple and peach fruitiness from the tripel. Hay and grassy earthiness. The cherry, raspberry, and passion fruit are strong enough to not have a watered down taste. Quite nice. 4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Moderately spritzy and supremely smooth. Good here. Booze isn’t noticeable at all. 4.0 D: Another winner from Voodoo. All they seem to make is great beer. Serving type: bottle 03-18-2013 01:34:12
