COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pilzilla, a beer Matt has dubbed a bastardized German, Czech, Polish Pils. There are a lot of things going on in the dude’s head, man. It carries all the traits that they call for in a beer and then voodooized. This is a fun, unique interpretation of the beer that Matt fell in love with in Europe. It will take on it own identity and grow each year in varieties of hop and alcohol. Soon to take over Tokyo. Not yet in theaters near you.

Ingredients: premium German 2 row barley, dash of Vienna, 9 varieties of German, Czech, and Polish hops. Out house lager blend of yeast.

Received in a trade from jdb288. Golden and hazy with a little white head. A floral and fruity aroma is not big but interesting. First sip brings passion fruit with a complex hop profile. Noble hops that have some sulfur, tart citrus hops. They are also spicy. So much hop complexity in a style that is usually not very exciting. Some yeast is tasted and a little honey. This is about hops and they are all over the place. By the time it hit 50 F things smoothed out some, or my taste buds were fried by the noble hops. And by 55 it was fruity and spicy hops. What a fun beer that definitely bends the style definition. It is almost an Eastern European version of an IPA.

The beer pours decently with a nice orange hazy color to it, not much of a head to it, more of a lazy white ring around the top with almost no lacing. The smell is decent with a nice yeasty, grassy, floral smell to it. It is potent yet well balanced at the same time. The taste is good with a nice yeasty taste, some mild bitterness, a mild grassy, floral taste that lingers on the back end. There is something else, a touch sweet that I can’t place over the bitterness. The mouthfeel is very clean, crisp, and a tad bitter that sticks around. Overall, a great pilsner with a good taste.

Pours a bright cloudy gold with a finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Lots of malt smell. Some biscuit with a little touch of honey and just a slight spicy hop presence. Taste follows the nose. Sweet biscuity malt with a touch of honey and finishes crisp and very grassy/floral bitter. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side with good carbonation levels. I like the finish, but the middle of the palate is too sweet for me. It did grow on me a bit as I got through it, but nothing exceptional.

Draft at the growler NYC. Pours a hazy bright bronze color. Taste is yeasty and sharp with a slightly hoppy and crisp palate. Very flavorful as smooth ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At Voodoo. Poured clearish yellow orange with light white head. Real honey aroma. Quite smooth with honey forward hop finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pale yellow color with a white head. Not as hoppy as I would of expected. Not my favorite.

First taste very hoppy but mellows to the pilsner name. Almost a Kolsch taste. Keller beer with an intense hop that mellows. Taste like an old age beer. Doesn't feel like a 7+ alcohol. Good beer. ---all in good suds.

Pours a translucent yellow with a bubbly white head of foam. Aroma is very faint but still remains grainy. Sort of medicinal. Very light and a little weird.

Institute, Philadelphia tap ($6): Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is resin and citrus, along with some bread. When I was drinking it, I didn’t realize it was a pilsner, mostly because I misread the name of the beer. Hoppiness and bitterness is strong. Good.
