4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transfer from BA review on 8-26-13-
Poured from bomber into an pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange-amber color with a small half finger of fizzy white head. The head fades very rapidly, leaving a somewhat persistent level of patchy foam on the surface of the beer and only a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is sweet and hoppy with a nice bready background. The sweet is mostly of a caramel nature but contains some notes of tangerine. The hoppy aromas are mostly of a lemon and grapefruit nature with the malty flavors being a mix of a doughy and grainy smells. Overall a very pleasant aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with a doughy taste upfront and a moderately strong caramel sweetness. Upfront there are some lighter notes of hops being predominantly of a light lemongrass taste. Some notes of grapefruit and grass begin getting more pronounced near the middle of the taste with a little bit of graininess and green tea flavor coming as well. At the end a strong dose of hop hits the tongue. The lemongrass and grapefruit grow stronger in intensity with a spicy and herbal flavor joining in as well. The sweet from the beginning mixes well with the big dose of bitterness that comes to the tongue at the end, leaving a satisfying leafy, bitter, and slightly sweet flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the medium to thinner side with a carbonation level that is average. The medium nature of the body is rather nice for maintaining the crisper taste of the beer while all the while still allowing all the nice sweet, malty, hoppy, and spice/grass/herbal flavors to be appreciated.
Overall – This is really one very enjoyable brew. It has a great flavor profile with a large degree of complexity, but yet is still very easy to drink and appreciate. This is one I am definitely going to seek out more often.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub, served in a tasting glass. Pours clear golden with a small white head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has big notes of noble hops along with pale malts. The flavour is fairly bitter with noble hop notes paired with pale malts. The finish is mildly bitter with slight pepperiness. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth texture and average carbonation. Overall, a nice imperial pils, but not terribly complex. 2014-04-26

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange straw with small white head. Aroma has a good amount of citrus and a bit of malt. Sweet, fairly piney and resinous. Seems like an IPA with lager yeast.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Received in a trade from jdb288. Golden and hazy with a little white head. A floral and fruity aroma is not big but interesting. First sip brings passion fruit with a complex hop profile. Noble hops that have some sulfur, tart citrus hops. They are also spicy. So much hop complexity in a style that is usually not very exciting. Some yeast is tasted and a little honey. This is about hops and they are all over the place. By the time it hit 50 F things smoothed out some, or my taste buds were fried by the noble hops. And by 55 it was fruity and spicy hops. What a fun beer that definitely bends the style definition. It is almost an Eastern European version of an IPA.
