3 July 2011, bottle. pours a med/light orange, quite hazy w/ some sediment, foamy white head and the bottle was quite a gusher. nice nose. definitely some strong orange peel, herbs and spices that i have a hard time specifying, pleasant maltiness with some dry belgian yeast. med body and mildly fizzy. bitter orange rind is dominant flavour with some herbs/spices that i again have a hard time pinpointing, though i think i would definitely say peppery. i think this is nice and fun and unusual but not a regular drinking ale.

Poured into a pint glass. 3.5 A: Lightly hazed golden yellow color. Three fingers of frothy white head with excellent retention and a good amount of lacing. Some of the spices are found throughout the beer and also on the bottom. 4.5 S: The nose is really nice. The pepper is ever-powerful and really sets this beer out from others of the style. Next is a nearly as powerful corriander. Juniper and orange peel complements underneath it all. Neutral wheatiness throughout. Very nice. 4.0 T: Taste is nearly as good. Lots of pepper and corriander again give a big bold taste, but manages to not be overdone. Juniper comes to the main show while the orange peel again plays a complementary role in the shadows. Neutral wheat. I love the huge spiciness. Pepper lingers on the tongue. 4.0 M: Medium body. Perhaps a touch too much spritzy carbonation. Reasonably creamy and smooth. 4.5 D: This is a very tasty, very spicy version of the style. Really a great beer for a summer afternoon. I suspect I’ll be drinking more of this in the future. Lightly hazy pale yellow with a mammoth white head. Super lemon, lightly sweet, some citrus beyond the lemon, and a bit of yeast in the aroma. Flavor had citrus, bright fruit, lemon, spicy yeast. Fairly refreshing. Body is sorta frothy and active. A nice brew.

A blonde wit with a very thin white head. In aroma, peppercorns and sage, cloves, and fruity esters. In mouth, black pepper, cloves, and light bananas, smooth and balanced. On tap at PA Flavor, April 9th, 2011.

Consumed at a recent tasting. Served in a SAVOR snifter. Pours a hazy light golden color with a good white head, nice retention, and a good amount of lacing. The nose is quite pungent, with an absolute overload of coriander coming through along with too much pepper. The orange isn’t noticeable. The flavor is not good. The pepper and coriander completely dominate my taste buds and not in a good way. It leaves the palate extremely dry. Very harsh. Not much to say other than spice bomb. None of the underlying beer comes through. I would not have this again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-28-2011

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a large, fizzy white head, long retention with average lacing. Aroma and flavor are heavy malt (straw, meal, cereal), spices (juniper, coriander, ginger, pepper) with notes of dust and oranges. Light body, low warmth, and lively carbonation with a dry finish.

651mL thanks to someone at our tasting! The pour is a hazy, light yellow, glowing in the glass. Thinning head. Aroma is all apples. Really not looking so hot from the get go. Taste is very nice: massive white pepper, dry and spicy citrus, potpourri herbal, heavy sage. Fresh and bitter rather than medicinal. A nice surprise after hearing from Travlr how awful it was. Would really benefit from a none acetaldehyde nose.
