Aroma: orange peel, coriander, some light hops, and yeast
Appearance: slightly hazy, goldish
Flavor: this is nice. orange peel, coriander, some light hops, peppery
Palate: smooth, filling
Overall: had with moderately spiced Indian food. Complemented well, not as well as say a hoppy IPA, but it was hoppy enough to work well.

22 ounce bomber from Giant Eagle. Pours a somewhat cloudy orange color with a large white head. A spicy fruity aroma; lemon and yeast. Peppery flavors, citrus and orange peel, light spices and wheat. Not too bad. Smooth and flavorful.

Enjoyed from a 22oz bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a cloudy/hazy straw-colored yellow, with a fluffy white head. The nose is remniscent of Hoegaarden, which was surprising, given the brewery’s asserted yeast choice. Coriander, pepper, floral notes, and perhaps just a touch of Abbey yeast esters come to the nose; very pleasing. The palate is slightly more assertive than other good examples of the style. Lots of yeast-derived flavors, big notes of pepper, the smooth character lent by the use of flaked wheat, and a fruity mid-palate and finish. Overall, I can see where the complexity and esoteric character of the beer would turn some off, but I found it compares well with well-known benchmarks of the style, and reflects a well-guided melange of creativity and brewing skill.

Bottle thanks to Jaxson. Pours out a slightly cloudy light amber color, not normal color for a white. Small lacing white head with an aroma predominately of coriander, citrus zest and spice. Taste is coriander up front, some notes of spice, citrus and a slight yeasty fruity note, I only found slight traces of any of these 12 kinds of peppercorns. Whites usually aren’t my style, but this one was enough off the beaten path that I could enjoy it.

12/10/2008: Voodoo White Magick of the Sun has a fresh orange, light corriander, and wheat aroma that has just a touch of sweetness about it. The beer is hazy and golden orange in color. It has calm bubbly carbonation and a small foamy off-white head. The flavor is dominated by CORRIANDER and inscence-like flavors. This beer tastes like an insence store in my mouth! It is very herbal and has a VERY peppery finish. It has a medium body and average mouthfeel. Overall this beer is interesting, but I’m not sure that I really like it. II wonder if this beer is like what marijuana would taste like if you just chewed on it?!

Bottle… Hazy light yellow ale with lots of yeast particles and little to no head. Fruity, grainy, spicy aroma – peppercorns jump out, but the other spices are restrained. A touch funky. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Sweet, tangy, spicy flavor. Honey and pepper finish. Kudos to dmschefke for providing the bottle!

22 oz bomber. There is definitely pepper in this beer, it hits you right away. However, after a bit it was not as noticeable. Coriander was slightly noticeable and there are other spices. Fantastic take on a white ale. The mouthfeel was a bit creamy and the overall drinkability is great.

Man, they love the black pepper. Really cool take on the witbier deal with a great carbonation and heft in the mouthfeel. The flavor was just overtaken by the numbing spice of the pepper though. Not my cup. Thank You Voodoo. 2009 22oz.
