Enjoyed on cask at Cole’s cask festival. A malt job, not overally drinkable cask when others are available, but would drink a pint if thirsty and only water, coffee, and prune juice would be my alternatives.

Cask at Buffalo Cask Ale Fest. Dark brown with a beautiful tan head. Roasty aroma with caramel and chocolate. Very smooth body with roasted malt, caramel, chocolate and hints of coffee and hops. Very nice.

In short: A superior Brown Ale, creamy and with a good hop bite.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed fresh, 1 month after purchase
The look: Clear dark ruby-amber body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose is nutty, tree roots and woody hops. The beer is rather creamy, nutty flavours are more like creamy nutty dessert than roasted nuts. Toasted grains, lots of earthy toffee, earthy caramel and tree roots. Body is very smooth and round and a little fluffy. Carbonation is soft. Good hops bite on this one, slightly fruity and a bit woody with a medium bitterness. Nice beer. This is a superior Brown Ale. This Winonaís Big Brown Ale is almost as desirable as Winona Riderís Small White Ass.

Initial aroma is of sweet taffy, strange and appetizing. Huge head pours, but it settles fairly quickly. Flavor is a very sweet version of a brown ale, definite fruit flavors present. Quite nice but not sure if I can drink a whole 22oz bottle.

Draft, Bella Vista opening: Very nice beer-- had a very smooth, very "brown" for lack of a better word taste to it. I might like a little lower alcohol content to drop it more toward session-level drinkability, but other than that I have zero complaints. And anywhere I can see a Primus reference on a beer bottle, I’m happy.

Draft at the Belle Vista Grand Opening: pours a nice dark brown with little head, aroma of nuts and coffee, taste is malty with some chocolate, very smooth, this is one of the better brown ales I’ve had lately.

On tap at KSBF ’08. Dark brown body with no head. Smells of chocolate, nuts, and coffee. Dusty chocolate flavor with a touch of coffee. One of the more impressive beers from the fest.
