2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured almost black with a loose khaki head. An alcohol roasted malt flavor with a touch of chocolate make the nose. The palate consists of heavily roasted mouth sweetness and the sting of alcohol. The finish is rich and smooth.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark brown but not too thick with little to no head. Very nutty malty aroma. The roasted nuts and malt flavor is very strong giving it almost a coffee like taste but not too much. A little higher in alcohol content than most other Brown ales I’ve tried. Not harsh or bitter but the heavy roasted flavor takes away a little of the smoothness. Pretty enjoyable overall.

Tap @ Sienna Mercato. Dark brown with tan head. Smells roasty and caramelized. Astringent, herbal, toasty, and (not too) bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours murky chestnut, small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, hints of pine, citrus, toffee, ash, a light tart acetic note. Flavor is light plus sweet, no sign of that acetic smell on the tongue, light bitter, rich and malty, lots of roasted malts as well as molasses and toffee, some pine and grass as well. Likely better fresher, but still an interesting beer today. Medium body.

3.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
APPEARANCE - nicely dark brown, gets my mouth ready for the nice flavors I’m about to sip.
NOSE - very little for my nose to enjoy.
FLAVOR - surprising roastiness right off the bat. Smooth malty flavors take over from there.
NOTES - really great brown ale. Solid contender with some of the bigger names out there.

Smooth, pleasant, and great to look at in a glass, but lacking enough character to get overly excited about it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Standard brown color without head. Juicy flavors of chocolate, oak and nut. Flavors of rye reminiscent of bourbon come through. It is a nice intriguing big brown ale. Mild bite and carbonation.

on tap at the brewery. Almost black in color with a small creamy light brown head. Malty aroma of caramel and cereal. Medium bodied with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Moderately sweet with a roasty, smooth finish. One of the more flavorful brown ales that I’ve had.
