Kauge (67) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 30, 2014
Bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja food department (€ 2,85) in May 2014. A somewhat hazy amber with a small, white, fast disappearing head. Nose is predominantly malty: hay, herbs, honey. Pleasantly sweet. Also slightly medicinal and muddy in the background, some alcohol even. Taste is I guess kind of better than your average wide distribution lager but still disappointingly messy and dirty with bitter (herbal) and malty (grainy) notes dominating. Light body, thin, fairly smooth, soft carbonation. Watery mouthfeel, dry, grainy finish. This belongs in the lower end of the new craft scene (haven’t yet rated any of the other Vormsis). Maybe ok to just gulp down in hot weather (not that we have that around here) without giving it any thought. But I guess you can do that with beers way cheaper than this one.

Bottled@PBF IX. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready, some herbal notes and mild toffee. Flavour is herbal, grainy, rubbery and some herbs. Not the cleanest or most interesting, but a fair effort.

Bottle 330ml (PBF IX)
Golden color, small white head. Grainy, cardboardish, some green apple. Light-bodied. Harsh, green apple, tartish... Not very clean flavor.

330 ml bottle @ PBF IX. Pours a hazy golden colour with a white small head. Aroma of grains, some wort and sweetness. Flavour of grainy malts, wort, grassy bitterness, sweetness and yeast. Light bodied and thin mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Surprisingly similar to their Hele Õlu...

Vertical with Hele Õlu
Aroma has sweetish malt, some honey and some grain. Flavour has herbal hops, grainy tones and grass. Also some butter. More refreshing and better than Hele Õlu.

Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Amber beer, white head. Nose is malts and caramel, herbal notes. Flavour is malts, some sweetness, vaguely spicy tones, more caramel, hops in the finish. Light and very drinkable, not very memorable either.
