3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Poobah (200) - New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - JUL 27, 2012Copper with a ton of unfiltered sediment. Sweet aroma with hints of alcohol. Eases into a mildy carbonated mouthfeel and concludes with caramel and Roman candy. Even my wife liked it and that’s rare. Place I bought it from had to discount it to move it and that’s a shame because this is a good beer. Guess I need to go buy some more!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ruigo (276) - PORTUGAL - APR 2, 2013
Although with an aroma of yeast and a sweet end, it amber colour and lively carbonation makes it a nice beer. Some notes of banana.

Deep amber/copper in color with a toffee sweetness. Head is minimal, aroma is sweet, raisins, brown sugar and caramel. Taste is same, toffee, caramel and touch of spice. Smooth and oily, this is an easy drinker.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Grima (1861) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 16, 2012
Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Kein besonderes Trinkerlebnis. Muss nicht wieder sein!
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ronaldtheriot (782) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - JUN 28, 2011
La Bete Des Vosges has almost no head, just a thin, off-white film. The appearance is a dark, murky orange, with lots of brown solids floating about. Some bubbles are streaming up, but no lacing is left behind. There is coffee-like sediment left at the bottom of the glass. The aroma is of over-ripe fruit, like prunes. It also tastes like prune juice more than beer, and is closer to brandy or wine than beer, as far as flavor goes. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and it’s a gamy liquid. The finish is not unlike fruit juice, but there is a barley presence in the aftertaste. Well, this is an unusual beer, to say the least. However, I did slowly sip it, and enjoyed it more as it went. I say it’s worth a try, if you can stomach it.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Koelschtrinker (8479) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 3, 2011
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DeanF (1537) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - SEP 28, 2010
330ml bottle. Nice beige head, light brown colour. Aroma of hops, coriander, malts, alcohol. Taste is grassiness and malts, lots of alcohol, syrupy wood notes. Complex and a little strong but pretty good. Dry finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JorisPPattyn (7306) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 22, 2010
Pale copper beer with a good yellowish tinted head. Dough, banana, condensed milk, couscous. Again couscous in the mouth, milky, special grains, not dry without getting sweet. Creamy, slick MF, feels heavy despite lively carbonation; fruity aftertaste. Strange, strange flavours... Infected, I daren’t say, but peculiar all the same. Oxydized malts? Thanks to Stefaan!
