Thx. to Martinus for this one another one added to my Hof ten Dormaal collection. 375 ml. green bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. Opaque yellow with a white head. Nose showcase the typical home-grown barley & hop character of HtD with their atypical hops winning the show mixed with a lot of herbs & coriander. Taste is sweet, milk, lots of spices, coriander, cleaning agents, their home-grown hop & barley showing here. Medium hazy, bodied, I believe that I was supposed to dislike this one… meh it is not bad & enjoyable albeit not their best.

Bottle 33 cl. from Willems, taste @ home end of june ’13. Almost clear darkgolden color, with good white head. Aroma light hops, some coriander, bit yeast. Medium body. Taste little spices, sweet, malts, bit hops. Dry ending. Like more the version 2 years ago from Hof ten Dormaal.

37,5cl Bottle @ home. Hazy orange blond to light amber coloured beer with medium carbonation and a medium white head. Light malty sweet fruity hinted aroma with some light herby coriander hinted touches. Full light creamy and fruity touched palate. Finish is sweet bitter and malty hinted with a light herby fruity touch. Nicely balanced. Decent brew.

Special ale with snow white head, quickly decreasing, and deep peach blonde colour, hazy. Noble and perfumed aroma of marzipan, bread, cinnamon, cognac, apple peel, orange liqueur. Fruity taste, a bit one-dimensional compared to the promising aroma, sweetish, bit thin mouthfeel, aromatic and spicy, finishing in dryish, grassy hops. Love the aroma, the taste is a whole lot less satisfying.

As Soixante-Neuf, bottle 33cl. Cloudy with floaties, yellow golden color, big frothy white head, recedes slowly, substantial layer remains; aroma sweet malts, grainy, banana, orange, yeasty, slightly sour; taste moderate sweet, slightly bitter, fruity sour undertones; medium body, oily to sticky texture, lively carbonation; finish fresh and light bittersweet, grassy, earthy. Not bad at all but a beer without direction.

33cl Bottle as Soixante-Neuf. Slightly hazy golden colour, thin white head. Aroma of hay, malts, flour, floral, light fruity and yeasty. Flavour is medium sweet, fruity, floral, some honey, relatively dry, light spicy, coreander, yeast, light-bitter finish. Light-bodied. OK, but very generic Belgian Blonde. If it were a bit less sweet it’d be a lot better imho.
