330ml swing top bottle from brewery. BB 6/6/2013. Poured a deep brown with red tint. Had a one-finger beige coloured foamy head that diminished fairly quickly but laced well. No obvious carbonation. Aroma subtly of sweet malt and a trace of caramel. Taste initally of sweet caramel followed by dominating roasted grain. Light to medium body. Finish is sweet with roasted grain. Good.

Tall flip-top 500ml bottle: best before 7th Sep 2012: the second beer in my mini-German evening on 13th June 2012. Poured into my lovely ’Hopfenperle’ glass tankard from Wolnzacher Brauhaus: Great looking beer, rich brown body with a cream head. It gives off a rich malty smell. The taste is toffee and caramel without too much sweetness and tangy almost bittering feel in the mouthfeel make this an interesting and most enjoyable beer. Fairly spritzy, well carbonated and lively, I really liked this beer.

Die Schaumkrone schäumt gut auf aber hält nicht gut, trüb orange-braun. Mein Dunkles hat 5,1%. Es schmeckt mild, ganz leicht röstig, eher hopfig. Fazit: Schmeckt mir nicht so gut! Test vom 25.5.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,7,7,7,10,7 - 7,25

Clear brown colour with large creamy off-white mostly lasting head. Aroma is roasted malt.

500ml bottle. Clear dark amber with huge frothy off-white head. Fading grassy to urinary hop aroma gives way to sourish dark malt. Dry and sourish dark malt taste stops short before reaching some reconciling roast or chocolate notes. Unambitious, unelegenat Dunkel.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Im Glas landet ein schönes nussbraunes Dunkles, mit mittelfeiner, halbhoher Krone. Das Dunkle duftet malzig, dezent säuerlich-röstig. Das Bier startet säuerlich malzig, mit leicht fruchtig-karamelligen Zügen im Hintergrund. Der Abgang zeigt sich ebenfalls säuerlich fruchtig, minimal röstig. Im Verlauf wird die Säuerlichkeit leider immer penetranter, so dass logischerweise auch die Süffigkeit drunter leidet. Unspektakuläres Dunkles…

500 ml flip-top bottle at home in Germany thanks to Bottelman. Is a clear dark brown color with a frothy, tan head. Dark malt aroma, caramel, and coco. Taste is caramel with a little roasty coco, nuts with light bitterness and dryness. Palate is smooth, soft, oily, with dry end. Good

Very nice vintage style bottle. Dark, unfiltered, Brewpub style. Powerful malty, yeasty.quaffable, satisfying aftertaste. A nice brew from this lovely brewery.

Schmeckt mir nicht so gut wie das helle der selben Brauerei. Es riecht und schmeckt malzig, im Nachgeschmack eher kaffeeartig. Aber irgendwie fehlt diesem Bier das gewisse Etwas, es schmeckt lasch und irgendwie langweilig. Im Großen und Ganzen OK, das wars auch schon. Test vom 15.8.2005, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 13,8,9,8,-,8

0.5 l bottle (5.1 %), thanks Timo A! Hazy reddish brown color wit quickly fading head. A bit dull aroma with licorice, nuts, toffee. Dry nutty flavor with some tart fruity notes. Not my kind of dunkel, somehow off.
