belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA Nov 11, 2003 Nice citrusy wheat aroma. Body has a great balnce of wheat with the spices. Finishes slightly dry the more you drink. A good Wit. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Nov 10, 2003 Seems to empty like a standard witbier, but is much more than that. Nose is spiced with citrus and a hint of caramel. The taste is tangerine along with some honey notes and spice. Nice beer! Finishes very smooth. Recommended! eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Nov 10, 2003 This one suffers a bit from being overated. An acquaintance raved about this witbier to me and although being good was not the next "sliced bread." The description on the label pretty much sums it up "hops, coriander and... orange peel." I found it to taste slightly like stale orange creamsicle soda with a hint of smoky red pepper. A filling beer but too intensely flavored to be enjoyed without food! jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Nov 10, 2003 Pours a tiny head leaving no lace, appears a cloudy, light straw. Good carbonation. Yeasty, wheat nose. No yeast on the bottom, Crisp with a very slight sour after taste. Good summer beer, it's cold now and a heavier beer would be better. Light - Medium bodied. $2.75 for a 330ml bottle. wunderbier (1264), Tampere, Finland Nov 7, 2003 Suprisingly geueze-like with sharp vinegar overtones. Somewhat sweet with a lasting, smooth acidity. This one would be really hard to drink in significant quantities. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Nov 5, 2003 Light orange-gold. Nose isn't particularly wit-ish, mustier and gueuze-ier than expected. Flvor is light and fruity, slightly spicy, then finishes a bit sour. Nice palate, zippy. Not what I think of as a wit, but still quite good. PrinceofNessus (234), Westminster, Colorado, USA Oct 4, 2003 A soft orange in color, no lacing, and a small white head. Initially the beer tingles the mouth, oranges are redolent in the initial taste. not sweet, slight flavor of corriander, which trails off quickly to a sparkling and refreshing finish. lemonlovr (187), Lockport, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2003 Updated: Jul 9, 2005Update (7/9/05): Having managed to find this beer only once before (in Colorado, I believe) and now finding it again today at Torrence Liquors in Calumet City, IL, I have to say that my original review still stands which is a far different reaction from almost everyone else who has tried this beer. Maybe it’s a good idea to point out that Witbiers are one of my favorite styles so that probably explains a lot. This has every thing I want in a wit - aroma, flavor, and nice easygoing mouthfeel. Perfect for a hot summer’s day - or night.
Original: Have to agree with acro on this one. I’m very surprised by the poor reception that Vuuve has received thus far on RateBeer. Aroma is mandarin orange and white grape combined with spicy coriander. Coloration is a pretty soft orange - very appealing. Very refreshing upon first taste. The beer is tart and bubbly up front and turns quickly to a slightly hoppy spicy finish. Excellent and unique Belgian White.
