PrinceofNessus (234), Westminster, Colorado, USA Oct 4, 2003 A soft orange in color, no lacing, and a small white head. Initially the beer tingles the mouth, oranges are redolent in the initial taste. not sweet, slight flavor of corriander, which trails off quickly to a sparkling and refreshing finish. lemonlovr (187), Lockport, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2003 Updated: Jul 9, 2005Update (7/9/05): Having managed to find this beer only once before (in Colorado, I believe) and now finding it again today at Torrence Liquors in Calumet City, IL, I have to say that my original review still stands which is a far different reaction from almost everyone else who has tried this beer. Maybe it’s a good idea to point out that Witbiers are one of my favorite styles so that probably explains a lot. This has every thing I want in a wit - aroma, flavor, and nice easygoing mouthfeel. Perfect for a hot summer’s day - or night.
Original: Have to agree with acro on this one. I’m very surprised by the poor reception that Vuuve has received thus far on RateBeer. Aroma is mandarin orange and white grape combined with spicy coriander. Coloration is a pretty soft orange - very appealing. Very refreshing upon first taste. The beer is tart and bubbly up front and turns quickly to a slightly hoppy spicy finish. Excellent and unique Belgian White. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Feb 27, 2004 Bottle pours a creamy light honey with very minor head and semi-slick lacing. Aroma is of corriander and orange peel (my favorite!). WOW, the taste on this one is well rounded. Orange zest up front, corriander, and it lasts through to the finish. I had always passed this beer up not knowing what it was. Glad I decied to get one this evening. This rates lower than what I would have thought. While I really enjoy Allagash White, this one seems to be a bit smoother. Very tasty.   Fantastic flavor!   Finish is a bit musty, but lends to its authenticity. Yeah, this is like liquid crack! Give me more!
FireChef1643 (5), Harrisburg, North Carolina, USA does not count Apr 16, 2006 Overall the impression that i got was that it was reminiscent of apple cider mulling spices, but that could be just the corriander. A great end with little hints of orange. Unique blush red color with a head that disappears very quickly. I enjoyed this beer and look forward to more beers from belgium shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 17, 2004 Updated: Aug 28, 2004Rerate: Enjoyed this much more than the first time I tried it. Not as hazy as a hoegaardan or other wits I have tried. Great aroma or citrus. HUGE head. My brother got me a 3 pint bottle for my birthday. I enjoyed this a lot. clingman71 (239), Centerville, Ohio, USA Apr 3, 2005 Updated: May 2, 2007This is a weird little beer, but I love it. It has a cloudy pale appearance and very white head. Vuuve is very active, pour cautiously. I smell citrus and spice. It has that sour Belgian twang that love so much. It is unique, tart, and very refreshing. DewBrewer (265), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 29, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Peach/copper-colored pour with a very nice fine head. The aroma is fruity with some sweet/tartness. The flavor is fruity with peach, lime, nectarine, and grape. It is quite thirst-quenching yet very nice to sip. The carbonation really brings out the flavors. Excellent beer! Dougal (130), Escondido, California, USA Mar 27, 2003 Bright yellow/orange color, like a hazy sunset. Minimal head the color of dust. Smells sour and citrusy ... my mouth immediately watered. Tastes like earth, dirt and dust with some oranges or apricots sprinkled over it. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium malts.
