Drew Blood (151), Mt.Prospect, Illinois, USA Dec 9, 2001 I found this one not very well balanced. The sweet cloying palate totally turned me off. The flovours were there but they just were not properly placed or developed. I think I will lay a bottle or two down for a while and see what happens.
BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 28, 2008 33cl, exclusive brew, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, not complex Belgian White, cloudy, good head, nice brew kiefdog (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 33cl bottle from Willow Bend (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy dark golden with a thin white head that dissipates quickly into nothing. Aroma is wet straw, slightly sweet malt, sour, ripe fruit, hints of spice and honey. Flavor is surprising for a witbier -- sweet and malty with a tartness that smacks the palate. Mouthfeel is generally watery with a quick, somewhat dry finish. Not typical for the style, but interesting. freekyp (791), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Jul 7, 2008 Updated: Jul 20, 2008Branded as Wit beer, but does not fit the mold. Quite a smack of tartness in the finish is unusual for the style. Pours a slight hazy golden color with a thin quickly receding head. Aroma smacks of orange and feet. Mouthfeel is thin with a dry finish. Coriander is underplayed. Forget about this and reach for a Hoegarden. badgerben (3040), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jul 4, 2008 Murky copper color with a medium head. Sour aroma. A little smoke and sugary lime. Very weak, tart lime flavor. Light malt. A whitbier? Umm... no? theisti (1014), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jun 25, 2008 11.2 fl oz bottle purchased at Lukas, KCMO. Pour is hazy orange yellow, initial one inch white head falls really fast with crackling carbonation bubbles. Aroma of citrus lemons. Some sourness. Taste is really citrusy and spicy (coriander and cloves). The citrus is equal parts lemon and lime. Wheat character comes through in taste. A bit of menthol in the finish. Palate is thin, with very fizzy carbonation. Overall, meh.
