Bottle (50 cl) from Toom Getränkemarkt, Würzburg, Germany. Dark copper, medium fluffy beige head. Roasted coffee malta aroma with some caramelly and earthy notes. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry finish. A solid Schwarzbier.

Aug 8, 2008 (6/21/08) Draught at Thüringer Hof in Leipzig. Black yet not opaque with a medium beige head. Interesting aroma of some smoke, roasted malt, grains and faint hints of coffee. Sweet flavor of malt, caramel, coffee hints and nice roastiness. Finishes slightly drier with some burnt malt. Medium-bodied. I like this one.

Jun 30, 2008 Appearance: Dark brown. Nice amount of head. Basically black.
Aroma: Fruit and malt. Berry-like. Bit of coffee.
Taste: Fruity/flowery. Malt and coffee. Raisins?

May 14, 2008 (bottle) Pitch black coloured hue with a thick and slowly lacing beige foamy head. Light-sweet, delicately roasted malty aroma, slightly leafy with notes of chocolate, coffee and a shy whiff of herbal hops. Light-bitter flavour with shades of acidity, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roast-malty taste with chocolate, liquorice and traces of coffee; quite dry and moderately roasty, slightly bitter finish (12.05.08).

Mar 10, 2008 Well-balanced black beer, quaffable yet has some character. Half-liter bottle pours black, mahogany highlights, decent tan head. Light, malty nose is sweet, bready, slightly roasty. Lightly sweet flavor fades into a lightly bitter, roasted taste, with pumpernickel, chocolate and fainter coffee notes. Faintly roasty aftertaste. Nice for washing down a burger. Love to try it fresh on draft some day.
