Interesting golden ale, if somewhat on the dark side of the genre. Although there is citrus, the most noticeable trait is a hint of sourness reminiscent of Rodenbach and I guess this was deliberate, on the other hand the slight haziness probably wasn’t. All in all, a tasty and enjoyable beer. I followed it down with a pint of a rather more standard golden ale which by comparison tasted of very little.

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Gold with white head. A malty beer with a vanilla flavour to it, almost custard cream biscuit, caramel. Quite soft on the palate and sweet. Just ok.

Cask conditioned handpump Kings Head Leicester 13/06/13. A golden beer with a white bubbly head and lace. A nice citrussy hoppy beer. Peach and lime noticeable. A pleasant malt backbone. Lemon in the nose too. Not bad at all.
