From tasting at the Brewery in Westminster. Medium body, nice hop, bitter bite. Some coffee roast. A bit lactic but ok

Tap. Pours a blackish brown that seems a little thin for a porter. Lots of chocolate roasted malt flavor up front that mellows as you drink it. Light on the carbonation and easy to drink. Decent for a porter, but not as robust I prefer.

This is a great beer. Pours dark and crystal clear with a beautiful frothy head. An extremely smooth malty start finishes even smoother with a sutle nutty, smoke flavor. I could drink a lot of these!

Had this casked. Slightly bitter aroma with strong roasted notes. flavor was fantastic, toasty but with plenty of hop bitterness. Wonderful balance. Beer was a little thin and the head left something to be desired look more like soda bubbles than a nice, tight head
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 RyanK (121) - Rhode Island, USA - JUL 18, 2012
Pours a dark black/brown penetrable by light with a small tan head real quick to dissipate. Smells strongly of roasted malt, coffee and a little mocha. Taste follows with the roasted malt being the strongest aspect and focus of this beer. Bitter roasted coffee and a tad bit of mocha. Went in a completely different taste direction than Otter Creek’s stovepipe porter. Little on the hops, decent amount carbonation and a thin body. Finishes somewhat dry, a low abv so sessionable. Just a solid beer.

Almost black in color with an off-white head. A mild roastiness with some coffee and a hint of chocolate. The nose is just a bit simple and bland. The flavor offers up some roasted malt and maybe a bit of coffee. There’s not much sweetness to it other than a touch of chocolate. Kind of thin as well.

Bottle. Medium dark brown color, with light tannish head. Roasted malt, burnt coffee, and some chocolate sweetness. OK

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a dark copper-brown color with a deep red hue and a thin, creamy tan head with little retention but good cling. Its aroma featured caramel and chocolate malt with a bit of earthy and grainy hops too. It tasted sweet with a chocolate flavor mixed with some caramel and a bit of bitterness too. The beer was fairly wet and slightly creamy with good fizz and liveliness, though a tad thin and light in the mouthfeel.

Mild mocha and hop aroma. Pours a deep dark brown that can be seen through if held up to the light with a mild tan head. Bitter with a chalky mouth feel. Feels quite carbonated for a Porter. Finish is on the sour side. Not a bad brew but it just seems a bit plain. I would drink it again but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
