Bottle ( 12oz ). Shared with blankboy and garthicus. Clear ruby with a solid, lasting, creamy pancake batter beige head. Nutty mid-roasty aroma, slightly sweet, decently bitter, a nice hit of bakerís chocolate as it warms. Taste is similar, but much more herbal bitter, the chocolate really emerges, no alcohol presence to speak of but a hint of table cream. Creamy, fairly still mouthfeel, a bit milky, leaving a dry grassy slightly minerally bitter aftertaste. Not bad.

Deep brown cloudy color. Aroma is mostly of malts with a nice smoked scent as well. Taste has a nice malty, chocolate, smoked taste. Leaves a nice and smooth aftertaste. A pretty nice brew for Wachusett. I am also the only person to have rated this many beers from Wachusett. Iím happy to take over sole possession of first for most beers rated by this brewer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate & slightly roasty. Flavor is of a mild cocoa. A little different compared to many other porters Iíve tried; this one is a tad more mild, but still a good beer nonetheless.

Color is dark brown with a tinge of red. Thin half-finger of light brownish head. Some reddish light passes through around the edges.
The smell is a mild dry roasted malt. Only a light coffee (decaf?) smell and only a miniscule malt presence. Aroma comes out a bit more as it warms up, like most porters/stouts.
Bitter malt flavor, dry and roasted. Bitter coffee with a dollop of dark chocolate. Very bitter aftertaste. Good flavor, although not that strong.
Feels very dry and quite thick, although it gets much smoother as it warms. The beer overall is competent, though not incredible. It is nicely drinkable. Bitter and dry, yet also smooth. Itís a sipper, but not a harsh one.

Draft. Outback Steakhouse. Nothing wrong with this one but nothing that great about it either. Tasted on the weak side with no strong characteristics to speak of. Didnít actually seem like a porter to me.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Fluffy mocha head with good retention craters as it recedes to skim surface. Coffee and chocolate aromas. Smooth and crisp with slightly sour cocoa from front to back. Lasting coffee finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A deep clear brown opaque porter with a thin light moka head. Pleasant pungent coffee and chocolate aroma, sweetish, vanilla notes. In mouth, a good sweet moka chocolate, with light bitterness, sustained, light burned toast, all very restrained and pleasant. A bit thin in mouth feel, with a velvety finish.

Pretty much tastes like every good porter I’ve had and I’m AOK with that since I’ve had lots of bunk porters. Easy to drink. Hints of coffee and a tinge of hops. Would be a go-to porter if available locally. I’d certainly do lots of cooking with it. Thanks Naven.
