From the bottle. Pours light copper color with thin white head. Weak aroma of earth, grass and a bit of orange. Initial taste is thin with some malt sweetness quickly moving to bitterness and lingers with aftertaste.

Draguht. This is a thin and relativly boring APA. I would go for Sierra or Anchor Liberty over this any day.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. It had a best by date of 3/7/14 and cost $2.79 ($0.23 per ounce).

Appearance: Slightly hazy dark gold to orange hue. Carbonation visible. Pours to a fairy large, white, frothy head which laces and retains quite well.

Smell: Strong aroma of pine needles and orange fruit.

Taste: Itís pretty obvious that Wachusett Green Monsta IPA is named after Fenway Parkís left field wall. However, if youíre going to name your beer "monster," even as a joke, you need to be more than just plain good. Thatís not to say this beer is a failure, just that it doesnít quite live up to its name. Itís a tame, drinker-friendly, well-balanced beer. Satisfying to be sure, but nothing approaching beastly.

Whatís interesting about this beer is it has qualities found in East Coast, West Coast and even Midwestern IPAs due to its hop varietals. The Cascade imparts pine and resin, the Amarillo imparts citrus, and the Centennial imparts some flowers or perfume, respectfully. Itís more of a real hop flavor than raw bitterness, which is actually kind of nice. Though the malt backbone is not quite as pronounced as it seems like a generic amber or honey malt base without much sweetness. It reminds me more of a pale ale than an IPA. Though there is a strong bitterness on the finish with all pine, flowers and citrus flavors all returning at once. Drinking this beer is quite an interesting experience.

Drinkability: If you want a easily drinkable IPA, then Green Monsta is for you. The mouthfeel is not too intense and a bit on the thinner, more tepid end of the spectrum, though there is a distinct crispness to the finish. Thereís little hop bitterness in the aftertaste and itís actually refreshing for a moment while in the mouth. At 6.1% ABV, itís quite tempting to session this beer, though I think it should be appreciated for its versatility since it works well on its own or as a meal companion.

Draft at Logan airport in Boston, MA. Pint glass. Golden amber pour with a thick white head. Good sporadic lacing. Aroma of bread, cereal, pine and must. Taste similar with light notes of pine and cereal. Bitter finish. Medium balance job. About a B- in my book.

Bottle. Pours golden yellow with lots of head. Aroma is just a bit hoppy, not a strong as you would like. Almost sweet. Taste is much of the same. Just slightly hoppy, with a bit too much sweetness.

This is an average beer with a kick of hops. I would pick it up again during the summer months, but itís nothing too unique that will have me seeking it out.

Pours a dark orange. Smells exactly as an IPA should and has a very balanced and hoppy taste which most fans of ipa's will enjoy ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap pours clean clear gold with dense white foam. The aroma is crisp with a floral and herbal bitter. The flavor is rich, really a full ipa, nice earthy herbal bitter with floral light sweetness. Solid brew on tap, surprising for the low review score.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a bit hazy, amber gold, big white head and good lacing. Smell is spicy piney hops and citrus. Taste is slightly sweet with spicy hops and good bitterness. Some citrus and maltiness shines through as well. Pretty good. Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
