j_b (755), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 29, 2008 1st in a series of ’color’-inspired beers at McGregor’s. This time we featured ’green.’
This was at our NO MA’AM meeting, at least two members found this the best beer sampled at the meeting. Nice color, dark copper (not green) apples, hops in nose. Malty palate, hoppy finish. Reminded me more of an American Pale ale than an IIPA. Alcohol well disguised.
blipp (818), Grand Island, New York, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours orange with a beige head. The aroma is sweet and hoppy, with fruit and caramel. The flavor is light but very well balanced with floral hops. Nice, pretty average. Dorwart (1621), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Sep 19, 2008 Decent sized head of medium sized light tan bubbles. Light hops aroma with some soft malts and vegetal aromas. Hazy copper brown in color. Bitterness but without any real hops flavor. Just harsh bitterness. Bit of doughy malts but nothing that really is good. Sticky palate with more bitterness at the finish and some harsh roastyness. Not a very good brew. hophead75 (1680), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Sep 18, 2008 12 oz bottle. I don’t think I would call this one a monster. Clear amber in color with a small but well retaining off white head. Aroma of alot of caramel/toasted malts with some supporting floral hops. Taste is not very assertive as far as the hops go- caramel, toasted and pale malt flavor with some leafy, slightly astringent Floral hops. Body is medium, finish isn’t that bitter hopson (499), Williamsville, New York, USA Sep 2, 2008 bottle- cleanser like flavor. Borderline awful for an APA. Very sad I purchased a 6 pack of this. twitcher (153), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Aug 27, 2008 bottle. Pours a medium copper color, big thick light tan head that sticks around like crazy. Aromas on the meh side- some musty bread coupled with light floral and citric hop notes. Flavor improves, if only a bit- decent bitterness right up front, some floral earthy hop notes, and smooth, and some even toasted semi-sweet malt. Palate is solid but ordinary- full flavored, good clean finish. Overall a decent beer, not a superb one. Tastes pretty damn good when the Sox beat the Yanks 11-3 though!
