COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Our local bitter, extremely popular in Devizes and district and available throughout the Wadworth trading area - light, refreshing and sessionable. An aroma of gentle malt with slight hoppiness combines with a good balance of flavours on palate, maltiness gradually dominating. There is a long-lasting after taste to match which eventually becomes biscuity.
Ingredients: 92% pale malt, 6% crystal malt and 2% cane sugar. The bitterness units of 20-22 are obtained from Fuggles hops (80% of total) in the copper and Goldings hops (20%) on the hop back plates. Colour rating is 22.

Now 3.5%ABV: hand-pulled half-pint at the 34th Telford Beer Festival (Crown Inn, Oakengates) on 4 May 2013. Clear amber/golden body with a thin white head of bubbles on top. Malty for an IPA, in both the nose and mouth with just a hint of floral hops to stop it being an overly sweet smelling and tasting beer. Biscuit/bread more than sweeter molasses, the beer having a pleasant semi-bitter feel throughout. An ideal starter, it set my taste buds up nicely for the Mild and dark beer attack I was about to begin.

Tasted 17/4/2013 draught "The George Inn", Lacock, Wiltshire. Poured a clear golden colour with a thin white bubbly head that diminished quickly but laced a bit. Aroma dominated by floral hops. Taste of hops bitterness - typical IPA. Light body. Short hoppy finish.

Cask at Great Queen Street, London. Pours clear good with a soft, white foam head. Very simple, classic bitter. Some lightly toasted bread, mellow leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Mild sweet finish, bready malts, light grains and leaves. Pleasant.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2013 Golden amber in colour with a thin white head. Hoppy aroma. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts giving a chewy digestive biscuit flavour instead of the full blown citric notes expected from an IPA - a pleasant surprise indeed! Raisin fruit notes evident and slight hop resin dryness in the balanced finish.

Cask at the Goat and Tricycle, Bournemourh. Poured a clear golden brown with a light frothy head but bags of lace. No real aroma of note. The flavour is all about the malt with just a hint of bitterness that lingers for a while on the palate. A very drinkable beer it must be said, but not the kind of IPA that I was expecting. A very good session ale though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Half at the Master Builder, West End. Pours clear amber with a small white head. Light malt and hoppy aroma with a little caramel. Same in flavour, light sweet and light bitter. Drinkable but thin bodied and not very exciting.

Sampled this IPA at Coanes, Johnstone in June 1998. Cask, handpump dispense. Golden amber in colour with a thin white head.
