Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - December.
Previously called Old Timer
Old Father Timer is Wadworth's year-end beer, ever popular with discerning beer drinkers for over 40 years. The beer remains true to its original recipe - a rich copper-brown in colour with a strong, malty aroma and a full bodied complete flavour.
Old Father Timer is brewed from 93% pale malt, 4% crystal malt and 3% cane sugar. Bitterness units of 20-22 are obtained from Fuggles hops (85% of total) in the copper and Goldings hops (15%) on the hop back plates. Colour rating is 40%.

Dec 05 Cask conditioned (as Old Timer)@ Humble plumb, Soton. Browny copper with a reddish hint. Strong and malty and a bit sweet without enough interest to justify this. 2.9
Several years ago I tried this from an aged cask (approx 7 months) at the Broad street tavern in Wokingham. It was more rounded with subtle fruity, toasty nuts. Absolutely delicious and I ended up completely plastered after a session on this. My memory may deceive me but it seemed several shades darker then - a recipe change?

Cask. Amber colour, short bubbly white ehad. Aroma of mild roasted malt and some fruity hops. Flavour of roasted malty, slightly sweet, plenty of fruity hops. Bitter finish with a little maltiness to it.

This used to be a regular cask conditioned tipple at Cropredy Music Festival each and every August which always felt strange as I always felt it was more of a winter beer. A dark brown beer that is both malty in aroma and taste, also very fruity and with a nice biotter finish used to get 4 pint jugs of this lay back listen to the music and slowly get merry.

Very nice mild and bitter. Smooth and delicious. Nice clear amber colour. Actually quite fresh and fruity.
