Great choccy and roasted depth with a nice fruit background. A thin start finishes with a beautiful complex spice and plum finish !

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Birmingham Beer Bash. Poured a slightly murky dark brown with a frothy tan head, Aroma of the spiceyness. Medium body, the chili somewhat overpowered the hint of dark fruit. Nice enough, but not exactly more-ish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is a very dark brown hazy beer with red fruit (plum) and milk chocolate flavours, sweetness and roasted notes on the finish. I couldn’t detect any real spicy warmth, but a very nice beer.

On gravity at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider festival, 6/6/2013. Dark brown with a slight, off-white head. Chocolate, some tart plum fruits and toasty malts, before a dryish finish with touch of chilli warmth. Good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Dark brown colour with average to huge, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Fruity aroma, hints of plum, a touch of chili in the background. Taste is initially fruity, hints of plum, later dry dark malty, bitter hoppy, minimally soapy overtones, a peppery touch of chili in the background flashes up in the finish. Nice composition, could still tolerate more strength of the individual components (dark malt, fruit, chili) if proportionality is kept.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[cask at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh] Deep, dark, purplish red beer with a large, off-white head. Aroma is bittersweet, with some stone fruit and a whiff of the black pepper about it. On the taste, some slight flashes of sweet plums, damsons, or other similar fruits, before the chilli bitterness arrives on the finish. Not so much a chilli kick, more a slight prod with the boot. Still, it comes together quite well and is certainly interesting

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’13. Brown with cream head. It does what it says in the title, sweetish fruitiness and a slight chilli prickle behind it. Little else but it’s ok.

On tap at the Rake. Cloudy brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, low carbonation. Fair bit of malt with subtle chocolate. Nice fruits on the back end but they clash a little with the bitter orange hop at the end. Very mild chilli. Mild bitter aftertaste. Interesting beer but could be a lot clearer and fresher.
