Bottle (purchased at the pivovar): Deep golden to very light amber coloured, small, but persistent off-white head, sweet-malty (with a tinge of toasted malt) nose, backed by delicate traces of hops and barnyard; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, soft MF; moderate sweet-malty finish with a good dash of hops comong late. Average by franconian standards, excellent by german..............

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a short, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet, cara-malty nose, slightly buttery with a tinge of honey and herbal hoppy accents in the background. Soft bitter flavour with a rounded malty sweetness, light to medium bodied, smooth carbonation. Cara-malty, lightly bready taste with herbal notes in the wings; moderately dry and sweet, malt-accented and slightly herbal hoppy finish. Okay, without ups and downs.

(OPPS’07). One of the better landbiers I’ve had. Looks nicely reddish amber, darker than other landbiers I’ve seen. Some earthiness (not kidding :)) and very nice hoppy bitterness. Slightly roasted. A bit similar to some british bitters maybe? Actually has some carbonation.

Bottle, from a supermarket in Lange Strasse, Bamberg. Amber gold, thin shortlived white head and moderate condition. Pleasant low caramel sweetness with a slight roastiness in the nose, low sweet malt and a pleasant bitterness in the mouth that is part hop and part burnt malt, low sweet bready malt balanced with a gentle hop bitterness in the finish.
