From the 1700s through the early 1900s steamboats were used to transport people and produce the length of Seneca Lake. If there were passengers at a dock a white flag was flown during the day and a red flag in the evening. Amber Lager is a malty, full-bodied Vienna style lager. Its strong malt flavor and aroma arise from generous amounts of Vienna and Caramel malts, complimented by a delicate aroma of Tettnang and Hallertau hops. Wagner Brewing Company is pleased to announce that we received an award for excellence for Wagner Valley Dockside Amber Lager.

Thin, unpronounced aroma, with little but a touch of malt. Flavor had a nice rich chocolatiness as it warmed, but was otherwise pretty minimal. Easy drinker, nothing special.

12oz bottle. Pours a radiant, cola-brown color with the slightest reddish tinge; light tan head with patchy lacing. Toasty malts and caramel in the aroma; a hint of citrus. This tastes wonderful: medium-to-full mouthfeel, showing plenty of cola and a creamy nuttiness; lively carbonation, with a touch of citrus and a near-perfect mouthfeel; terribly drinkable, flavorful Vienna (probably my favorite of the few Iíve had). Medium, toasted malt and nutty finish. I could drink this all day.

Cola - colored with a thick tan head. The thick head also had very nice retention. Malty aroma, caramel and raisins in the palate. This is a smooth creamy palate. A very nice vienna.

This is the ONE beer that this brewery does right, and boy have they gotten it right! Itís remarkably subtle in its combination of Hallertau/Tettnang with the delicious Vienna malts. No wonder they won an award. Fairly sweet with buttery malts, itís as smooth as a babyís bottom. Their other beers sure do suck though. This one-hit-wonder brewery has the one-hit thing in common with A Flock Of Seagulls, who I will be seeing in concert in two weeks.

GABF 2002: Dark amber color. Intense floral hop aroma, sweet up front and a bitter finish, with no hop flavors.

Great malt and hop floral nose. Good head and lace, an all round good beer.

Explodes out of bottle with a 5+ finger light brown head but fades quickly leaving only traces of lace. Murky brown/amber with a ton of chunky bits, ugliest beer Iíve seen in a while. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is raisin and yeast. Starts with sweet raisin & plum, there is a hint of yeast in the background, finishes smooth and is actually very drinkable. $1.00 for a 12 oz bottle from Hoosick Street Discount Bev. Troy, NY.

Poured a hazy copper with wonderfully fluffy head; tiny constantly moving bubbles give this a very creamy palate. Malts are burnt/sweet caramel, especially in the middle. Nice mildly warm hops.

Hoppy, red malt nose. Red aleish flavor - tart and malty. Sweet lemony finish. Too tart for me. A bunch of beers have been too tart for me as of late..
