COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From the 1700s through the early 1900s steamboats were used to transport people and produce the length of Seneca Lake. If there were passengers at a dock a white flag was flown during the day and a red flag in the evening. Amber Lager is a malty, full-bodied Vienna style lager. Its strong malt flavor and aroma arise from generous amounts of Vienna and Caramel malts, complimented by a delicate aroma of Tettnang and Hallertau hops. Wagner Brewing Company is pleased to announce that we received an award for excellence for Wagner Valley Dockside Amber Lager.

Pours a flat transparent amber color with a minute white head. Aroma is roasty and nutty--maltiness. Start is very sweet, but not cloying. Honey--pleasant. Unfortunately, there isnt really much more character. End is kind of smokey tasting. A decent beer.

Slightly hazy deep golden beer with offwhite head. Sweet malty aroma with vinous qualities, with some yeasty notes. Bready and slightly yeasty taste with a tinnish aftertaste, like young hops with toom much quick. Goes well with a nice Bleu (Bleu de Bresse) as it brings out the sweetness of the beer,in a good way.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2006 I had a draft sample at the Flour City brewfest at Rochester NY. This brew had a ample body with a hearty flavor. I’ll have to try a bottle sometime. 6-13-06 I had a bottle and I tasted more hops now than before.

Hoppy, red malt nose. Red aleish flavor - tart and malty. Sweet lemony finish. Too tart for me. A bunch of beers have been too tart for me as of late..

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2006 Absolutely gorgeous. Huge tan head on a clear cherry coke colored beer. Nose of vanilla, classic floral hops, and sweet malts. Taste of malts, vanilla, toffee, and bitter hops, with a long bitter finish. A little thin in the mouth, and dry, almost tannic, almost nutty, almost astringent.

Bottle. Dark amber body, minimal head, sweet malty nose. Caramel, molasses, sweet malts, not much in the hop department.

Right up there with Sam Adams. Hazy orange color, frothy white head. Aroma is sweet with some earthy type smells(twigs, grass). Tart flavor. Moderate body, balanced finsih, but not that interesting.

Decidedly brown in colour with a medium amount of carbonation. It’s got a nutty / malty aroma with little hop influance. The caramel malt is the dominant flavor, along with some vienna and munich malts and some clean bitterness. It’s fairly average stuff. Thanks Lubiere.

Thin, unpronounced aroma, with little but a touch of malt. Flavor had a nice rich chocolatiness as it warmed, but was otherwise pretty minimal. Easy drinker, nothing special.

Feb. 2, 2006; 12 oz. bottle.

Pretty good for the style which, admittedly, is not my favorite -- being just *too* malty-sweet for my hop-craving palate; trying to rate accordingly. Reminiscent of the Sam Adams Octoberfest. Pleasant, candy-ish aroma and smooth, spicy mouthfeel. Have five more in the pack, and may re-rate after further review.
