COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ingredients: Malted Barley, Malted Rye, Malted Wheat, Water, choicest New Zealand Hops, Coriander, Orange Zest, Yeast. ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 1041.0. A thirst quenching summer ale, specially brewed with coriander and orange zest for their refreshing properties. The use of Rye imparts a distinctly European character to this beer. The aroma is inviting. Moulded by New Zealand cascade hops, the floral bouquet is enhanced by the coriander. Bold overtones of orange create a complex, ultimate summer beer. This is a classic; born to capture the essence of summer on Waiheke. Kick back and enjoy this beer with friends.

Tasted 2006. Features are exactly as in the description. Cloudy with an interesting feel. Rye & wheat dominant. A little bit of a bad homebrew texture, with a sweeter orange finish.

I’m not sure why they have this and the wheat on, as they’re basically the same beer save for the rye, but I digress. Pale, slightly hazy beer with a faint orange tint. Spicey aromas of orange peel, coriander, and a bit of wheat/rye spiciness. Palate is a bit watery. Distinct spicy hop flavour and aroma in here that actually complements the brewing spices used.

I was expecting some sort of rye-wit, but got something like a watery version of the "original" with a bit of coriander. Really couldn't detect the rye. completely clear bright yellow. aroma is an interesting mix of cascade and coriander. taste is bland, clean lagery malt with slight spice. it's a bit too cleaned up to be interesting.
