2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Faint bitterness added as a token to justify the label. It’s really just normal mainstream sloshy lager with a bit of caramel colouring and low budget artificial essence of slight bitterness added, which, by default, does make it a tad more interesting than a mainstream sloshy lager. But only just.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tasted 3/2/2014. Draught at "The Pub ’n’ Grub", Taupo, NZ. Poured a semi-clear golden amber with 5mm of off-white frothy head that retained Ok and laced quite well. Carbonation moderate with small bubbles. Aroma of malt and not much else. Taste slightly sweet but with an acrid bitterness on back of the tongue. Light to medium body. Smooth but with a biting bitter finish. Not that good and expensive (at $8/pint) for what you get.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
745ml bottle on a rainy afternoon in the pub of the South Seas Hotel on Stewart Island (NZ)
Pours amber with a large, sudsy, off-white head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma: some light bready malts but mostly herbal/earthy hops; a bit floral and grassy.
Flavor: Mild; a touch sweet up front and mildly bitter by the finish. The hops dominate the light bready malts.
Feel: Light body; smooth but slightly astringent; good, soft medium-high carbonation.
O: a decent and typical but unremarkable NZ beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml can from The Beer Cellar. Not sure that this is a pale lager as is is a very dark amber colour, although it is quite clear in the glass. Malty flavour with a nut finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
20th September 2011
Bright clear deep amber beer, tidy white head. Light palate, a little crisp and a little dry. Dry pale malt. Mild and sweet generic fruit. Mild minerals and then a pretty dry finish. Interesting. Nice flavour but a bit too dry.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
From a 330ml bottle on 18/1/2013. Pours a clear dark golden with a biggish head. Has a typical, modest stale grain smell. Flavour wise, there’s a dash of sweet malt and not much else. This is saved from being horrible by a good dash of bitterness at the end. Still, it’s quite watery and ordinary.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Like most bitters, this is not really bitter. Sweet, malty, but not sickening sweet. Bitterness only for balance. Not bad, in the end.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
We get asked about this A LOT. Finally got it in and tried it today. It says ’bitter beer’ on the label and that pretty much sums it up. Lager yeast and bitterness. Bitterness cuts short any shitty mainstream lager length that might be left about which is a pretty good thing I suppose

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pale yellow. Small head. Negligible aroma. Weak in hops, weak in maltiness, weak in flavor. Watery and bland. No thanks.
