Quack-Duck (1698), Bodensee, Germany Mar 28, 2008 bottle. Clear golden yellow, large white head. Full-bodied, very hoppy and dry, in a very pleasant way. Herbal and grassy hops with a lovely intensive flavour. Bierpapst (18), Vienna, Austria Mar 20, 2007 very pale straw colour, intense hay-like fresh hop aroma, some sweetness in the nose, surprisingly full-bodied yet well balanced and dry finish. MoritzF (3690), Ruhrpott, Germany Mar 1, 2007 (bottle, with thanks to quack-duck) Clear, yellow colour with a foamy white medium head. Sweet, grainy, slightly strawy aroma with a pleasant herbal, citrousy hop presence. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, smooth mf. Soft malty, slightly grainy taste with a balanced, almost fruity hoppy note. Moderately dry, light malty finish with a rounded hoppy bitterness. Pleasant and moreish Pilsener from the Black Forrest. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 13, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Pale golden with a thick and dense head. Extremely lovely hop aroma. Body is quite soft with a finely balancing and not too dominating bitterness. Top quality pilsener. 191102 maeib (3949), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Nov 4, 2005 Bottled. A greeny gold lifeless looking lager. The aroma is sweet and grassy with a little hop. The taste is also on the sweet side but quite clean and full bodied. Better than average lager but there’s not enough character.
