TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Nov 12, 2007 Sampled a pint of this one on draught at the brewpub in Stevenson, WA. This beer pours to a beautiful, bright, chestnut brown color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting, with good aromas of nutty and toasty malt, paired with some piney hops. The palate is firm with good sweet and nutty malt flavor, This beer finishes with really good nutty malt flavors up front, then ends with a nice piney smack of hop bitterness that lingers. Excellent example of American Brown Ale. I really enjoyed the malt and hop character of this beer, and both shine in this beer. A nice session beer, and a very food friendly one as well. troopie (507), USA Jan 26, 2007 Aroma of hops and malt. Some light chocolate and roast notes. a light finish that doesn’t linger much, but makes you sad when it goes. The cure for that is another sip. Indiana_Red (1470), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 6, 2006 On Tap at the brewpub. Clear medium brown in color with a small off white head and traces of lacing. Nice aroma of soft roasted chocolate malts. Heavy on the chocolate malts flavors, light roast and somewhat earthy. Quite smooth and soft feel. Very good. Bradrcr (617), Renton, Washington, USA Aug 24, 2008 7/19/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is great caramel sweet ssweetness followed by a near perfect roast note. Appearance is clear amber brown with a well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is roast malt with a sweet/sour bready character forward followed by very low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium-high bodied with a moderate carb texture. Overall, quite good, but I wish this tasted as well as it smelled. DrBayern (974), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jul 29, 2007 Draft in Hood River, OR on 7/20/07. Deep brown amhogany with a light tan head. Malty aroma with some roasted nuts, dark brown sugar, and some piney hops. Medium body and carbonation, and a very smooth feel with a bit of chewiness. Malt flavors dominate the flavor as well, but some peppery hop bitterness enters at the finish for a nice drying effect.
